New Bloodwork - High Ferritin??

Thanks Stewie,

How would I go about determining whether or not I have this condition?
Ultrasound along with a LFT. If warranted, biopsy. That would be the worst case scenario to differentiate histopathology.

@Fleezy, I hope you get your answers to this to put your mind to rest. Nothing I can really add or help with. I’m just astonished at your doctor’s ignorance!!!!!

Out of curiosity is your doctor an older fella like say 65+?

Cage

Nope

I’d say mid 40’s

Never seen his entire face tho - as he’s always wearing a mask lol..
Is he based in a rural area/small town versus a large city?

@Type-IIx , what do you think about the possibility of it being a common cold or nafld?

I wasn’t sick at the time of the draw. I never really get sick

I need a doctor with some medical curiosity

Your white blood cell counts would generally be off. And possibly low lymphocytes. With elevated CRP slightly.

The body is pretty smart and wouldn’t lose a ton of sleep seeing your other markers. I would add a good beef liver supplement and retest in a few weeks preferably after 1-2 days off from training.

"Your risk for these conditions is predicated on your ongoing use. I will refer you to our addiction group and when use of the steroid is discontinued for 1-2 months we can recheck the levels and then consider hematology referral if the levels persist."

holy shit lmao

the absolute nerve on this guy.

im not even mad, just awestruck
I bet he would be more than happy to treat you if you were addicted to cigarettes and alcohol though

I got a friend who was with a girl who injured her back

Her doctor prescribed her an absolutely insane amount of oxy - which my friend would sell for cash

We are talking several thousand dollars a month

Doctor might have been on the take.. but either way.. oxy is generally the fast lane to opiate addiction

But steroids bad

doctor just scheduled me for a liver ultrasound… so I guess he’s not entirely unhelpful

Wanting to rule out NAFLD

Ultrasound results

Knew that I had a bunch of hemangiomas on my liver.. I’m not sure what this bigger one is about

The tech said that it was in my notes from previous scans.

I had a ct scan on my liver with contrast after all the hemangiomas were discovered, and nothing was mentioned

only concerns are adenomas or cancer tbh 🤔

Gotta love the nonchalant way the techs go about saying possibly cancer around you. Like eh, no big deal… Been there done that and was blown away my techs care less attitude. I hope that’s not the case for you man!

I agree 100%.

I never ask or listen to a tech (technically they are not allowed to comment / diagnose), I wait for a doctor / specialist.

But hey, that’s just me. Not knocking all the techs, some good, some not so good, but come on, they can really get somebody worked up for nothing 🙁

I think - given the circumstances (multiple hemangiomas), it’s more likely to be an atypical hemangioma instead of cancer

But I digress

I’ll see what my doctor has to say. He will, of course, blame it on steroids.. lol

I personally wouldn’t stress too much over cancer given your other blood markers. But lesions and high ferritin do track.

The question is- what is stressing your liver to keep forming lesions? Taking a step back on orals, drinking and other lifestyle things would be a smart move based on these test results IMO. The liver does regenerate itself, but everything has its limits.

Your doctor most likely will blame gear solely. It’s the easiest thing to point to for them and the one thing they don’t understand.

Well aside from this undefined lesion, they are all hemangiomas - which have no known cause

I have one on my shoulder, stomach, and head also

They are only a problem if they appear in your brain or spine

Is there a particular reason why you’re not requesting all your health records and high tailing it to another doctor?

I know it can be a pain/inconvenience to make the move. If you ever have something really wrong I highly doubt you’ll be given quality care with this fella.

Just something I’d give SERIOUS thought to for future issues.

not too many PCP's in my network taking new clients

If you want to find a good doctor, take insurance out of the equation. Sure there is a time and place for it, but also can dictate or limit care.

Paying the “right” PCP $100-$200 cash pay per visit is worth the investment IMO. Many of the best docs aren’t billing insurance for nickels on the dollar. They’re getting patients better.

Either way I’d find anyone but the guy you’re working with now. The local urgent care MD or NP would give better care it seems. 😂
