I'm sure all of you have heard about the athletes missing at sea due to rough waters. Thank god Nick Schuyler was found.

It's a sad day, the coast guard as given up on the search of the other 3. My condolences go out to the families of Corey Smith, Marquis Cooper, and Will Bleakley. Hope for a miracle that these men are found.

Yeah it sucks. I'm here in Tampa where they are from, so it hits close to home. Eveyone is praying.

But two to four hours after the boat capsized, one of the NFL players removed his life jacket and let himself be swept out to sea, the St. Petersburg Times reported. A few hours later, the other one followed suit.

"We were told that Nick said the two NFL players took their life jackets off and drifted out to sea," said Bob Bleakley, whose son Will Bleakley, 25, is also still missing.

After Cooper, 26, and Corey Smith, 29, were carried away, Bleakley and Schuyler hung on until morning — but then Bleakley decided to try to swim to get help when he thought he saw a distant light, the paper said.

He, too, took his life vest off, 24-year-old Schuyler told the families.




Wow...still can't believe anyone went out that far on such a small boat with a storm known to be coming. Just sad. This is why we have liferafts and EPRIBs people.

If indeed the story Schuyler told the media is true about how only 2-4 hrs in they decided to take their life vests off, baffles me. Why? It's just too bad

I'll tell you why.....when hypothremia sets in, & it did set in being that the waters were 61 degress, the mind begins to hallucinate. the guy swimming away only "thought" he saw lights. it was unforturnate at that time he was hallucinating.


I to live in Tampa and was practically born on sea....love the ocean. i was talking with some friends just last night about this and that just no way to go. my thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of these young men.

61 degrees degree water? I live in Michigan, that seems pretty warm to me. I'm not saying your full of it, but 61 degrees period is warm to us here. I just don't see how hypothermia can set in w/ 61 degree water. But none the less, its very unfortunate, and closure w/out a body is near impossible, I couldn't imagine.
