Nutritional Experts?? Quick Question need advice

I've asked this to many people and have yet to find a resolution to my issue so hoping someone here that is good with nutrition maybee could help..

Here's my Issue... Breakfast makes me fall asleep!!! No matter wahat I eat 10 minutes after I eat my eye lids get heavey and I feel like going back to bed..
I've tried no carbs, complex carbs and protein , whey protein, mixed protein.. No Protein.. whole foods... only Protein fat only ( this helped some)....

This AM I had 6 X lrg organic eggs 3 whole 3 whites and steel cut oats 1 cup dry (b4 cooking) this is about as complex as carbs come...10 mins later I'm ready to pass out.... I have a blood sugar monitor I use on and off just to see how some foods affect my glucose and its never low or High... so its not hypo or hyper..This AM it was 94... I can't figure out whats causing the fatiuge...

Anyone have any advice that might help me..its been going on for like 5 yrs and I'm getting sick of it...

Since it's not your blood sugar, are you getting enough sleep? You may not be getting enough quality REM sleep.
 
Sleep??? Whats that??

Im on Cpap...Still don't sleep well....Have insomnia every f%^king nite...
Going to a diff sleep Dr. in two weeks...So this I am sure has a part in it but I feel OK b4 I eat (once I wake up) then after I eat I hit the wall and boom Im shot...
 
It's not easy to sleep at night when after you eat during the day you nap (if that's what you're doing).
If it's biorhythm... during the day you can go lay in a tanning bed...it resets your clock by the strong light through the goggles on your eye lids and the strong light directed toward the back of your knees. Next...if you nap during the day... you really should never nap with light touching your skin esp eye lids...any light...has to be completely dark. What happens is ... your body will release chemicals to help you fall asleep and at the sametime..because of the light...release chemicals to keep you awake... messes your body up bad over time.
How much sun do you get? your skin..even arms need sun to touch them. People that work at night and sleep during the day have alot of the problems you described.
After you eat...try to understand also that alot of blood is directed toward the stomach for digestion..yeah.. it'll make you sleepy if you don't start moving your butt after eating. The bigger the meal...the more blood directed down there.

Thx Storm..Just started reading a book about that dealing w brite light therapy...i dont nap often.. once in a while on weekends but thats it..
I'm more awake at night then during the day...so what you mention may be an issue I can be tired all day and then at 8pm I wake up and usually am not ready to sleep by 11PM but if I don't get enuff sleep then I feel like crap...

Problem with moving my butt after eating is I eat and 10 mins later leave for work... 20 minute drive and feel progressivly more tired..by the time I get to my office Im shot..

Im gonna try the tanning bed...Also a friend of mine today mentioned could be my adrenals and cortisol levels...any input on that???

Good question...sorry those are not my area...but I'm sure somebody here knows and will chime in. I can add...you probably have med insurance...go to your Dr and get a referal to a sleep specialist... it will involve tests and stuff...some drugs to get you back on time etc.

Becareful on this..if your body is out of time for too long.. you may get in a serious accident. A guy at work went months without proper sleep..after the accident and the Drs did their research on him.. it went like this... after a period of time of non restful sleep, it got to the point that when he got home..he didn't remember the drive there at all! In a EEG they realized that he was missing sleep. After the proper drug therapy and coming back for EEGs...they can tell his body was coming back to normal.. it took months to get his body back to normal with proper sleep... mind you..once you miss restful sleep.. it's a downward spiral 'cause you never catch up on sleep.. you simply miss it out of your life. So I'd see a Dr. so you stop missing them. It can get life threatening for you and others.

Got an appt on the 24th with a sleep specialist.already had a couple studies done very little stage 2 and 3.. but tey were through a respritory type Dr. for sleep apnea..but the machine isnt doing me any good.. I'm gonna try to get a script for Xyrem and provigil if possible..The Xyrem is supposed to lenghten the stage 2 and 3 sleep and will also take care of the insomnia..had a script for it b4 but the Dr. got in some trouble and they pulled his license...
What meds did they give the guy from work??? Do ya know??
I keep taking the mask off at night while I'm sleeping and next thing I know my wife is hittin me sayin "put yer mask back on yer snorin again" the only person thats getting a better nghts sleep from that F%^%king machine is my wife...I feel like I'm suffocating all night!!!!
 
I had a sleep study done about 8 years ago and have been sleeping with a CPAP since. I had an oxygen tank too but after a switch to different insuance carriers it got lost :mad:

I was told that you REALLY NEED TO BE CAREFUL with any drugs. Sleep apnea is your body "waking up" when you quit breathing - so you can start breathing again. This is why you never really get into deep REM sleep. If the drugs relax you, they may prevent you from waking up (unless you still have the CPAP on)!

I belive that excel, but if it wern't for drugs I'd never get to sleep.. Been on a mg of Xanax for years to sleep.. Probly hasen't helped sleep quality but atleast I sleep... would like to not take it every nite but if I dont I just lay there for hours... Thats why I hope he'll give me the Xyrem its not toxic as the Xanax and is metabolised in two hrs and processed better by the body..
 
oh oh oh! I can't believe I didn't even think about this...it's so much a part of my life, I didn't even remember why I use it.

I couldn't sleep at night either...about 17 years ago it was so bad and I didn't know what to do...didn't have insurance either. So I thought about it...what was going on at night that made me stare at the ceiling... my brain wouldn't shut the hell up! So I found a round fan..the kind that made the consistent boring whirring noise... then I remember what I always put me to sleep... a car with the windows down and the wind in my face.

So I took the fan..placed it close to the bed...wind in my face woo hoo! my brain stopped wondering with thoughts and the attention was on the boring consistent whirring noise and the light touch of wind in my face.. out like a light. It was the best sleep I've ever had... and guess what? I've never stopped! I'm so used to turning the fan on that I never think about it as why I do it. Years later.. having a computer.. I learned about white noise and sleep. It's even suggested by Specialists. Weird..not a day hasn't gone by in all these years that I slept without a fan on except when I was with my unit... but then I'm either so tired from training or so drunk.. sleep was inevitable.

Now married... last year by the way... thank you thank you... she is used to falling asleep in front of the TV. So.. now we have the fan on my face.. tv on but the sound set so low.. you can't make out the words...the brain gets bored... poof..out like a light.

Try it.. I got several people on this...at first they were like... bullshit... but now years later...they use a fan.

Storm...Good thought buit I already do it as a matter of fact If I travel I have a small travel fan I bring with me cause I cant sleep without it...
I havwe two fans on in my bedroom...one pointed at my face and one on the celing.. That has helped but Im not otta the weeds yet... White noise is the bomb...
man,, during the day is the only time I can sleep without insomnia.. at nite constant insomnia...I rarely get to sleep during the day but when i do I go out right away and sleep deep..I think my internal clock needs a reset...
I've tried everything including giving up all recreational substances...still can't sleep... No Booze No Drugs No Smoke No Sleep :mad:

Damn hehehehe I'm trying so hard on this one. Ok so we both basically use the same tools. And you're going to try the tanning bed yes? do it during the day. yeah...sounds like your clock is off by 12 hours. Please let me know what the Dr says.. I know sooner or later this'll hit me.

Oh...one more.. long shot! When my ex and I broke up and divorce over a year ago..now remarried..until then.. I couldn't sleep without a body pillow down my back..it's a long thick pillow.. you lay right beside it... simulates a person next to you sleeping. Put me out! damn...are our minds messed up or what? hahahaha

And believe it or not...I still use it. I work 4 on 4 off two weeks days two weeks nights. So when I'm on nights and sleep in the day.. Mrs SS is at work.. so there I am... pillow down my back so I think she's asleep beside me. I'm such a pussy lol

I will definatly try the tanning bed and let ya know how it works...Whats your suggestion as far as how often and how long??
I don'tlike any one next to me when I sleep..To much body heat...I have a king bed and the only time my wife is allowed on my side is when we have sex other than that its off limits except for a few minutes here and there..I like it cold when I sleep..
Thats funny though thjat you need that pillow..I guess it all what you get used to :D
