O/T, d/l Cost of Redemption, cant get audio

im just d/l that ronnie C video and it plays fine, but i cant get any audio.. it said i might need an audio codec for sound, but im not sure exactly what i need.. maybe someone can help. also, its says its a xvid dvd rip, does this mean i can burn it and play it on my DVD player?

throwing this out there, but do you have an updated Windows Media Player? Reason I ask is (embarassed) downloaded a porn and it was sayign the same thing. I installed the Windows Media player 9 and it worked.

I've got the DVD of Ronnies and he is awsome and some of the things are a little funny. 2350 Leg Press (GOTTA DIG DEEEEP!!!!) for, I think 8, after 800 pound squat for a double.

What a lifestyle!!! Eats breakfast at 9:30am trains at noon, eats out (Black eyed peas) for meal 2, then again around 6, then Outback steakhouse at 10pm or so. He did that every day on the dvd.

there are tools to retrieve information which codec is used for audio but since you don't want to install a new codec for every 3rd movie you download, i suggest a codec pack like the k-lite, newest version here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm

it contains probably every codec there is so you should be able to view almost any movie out there. i have several bb vids like those from Ruhl, Cutler, Coleman, James, the Olympia and the ASC, all work fine.

divx/xvid is only playable on select standalone players like those from KISS Technologies. But you can convert it to MPEG-2; i use TMPGEnc 3 to make an MPEG-2-file and then author a DVD with TMPGEnc DVD Author; you can get eval versions here: http://www.tmpgenc.com/

the media player can download certain codecs from microsoft's servers; this works for some but not all codecs; microsoft does not like divx/xvid, since it competes in this market with its own WMA-codec.

also, do you know if i can burn this onto a CD and play it in my DVD player? im wondering if i would just create a data format, or what format i would need to use if it will work. i use nero right now for software.

almost all DVD-Players can show VideoCDs (VCD) and Super VideoCDs (SVCD). These formats are not sold in Europe or the US, but are popular in Asia. Nero can burn both formats. you should get some 90 min of average quality on 1 CD in VCD and on 2 CDs in SVCD format. Nero has to be equipped with the right plugin, MPEG-1 for VCD and MPEG-2 für SVCD. VCD should be standard from Nero 5.5 and up; how to do:

for SVCD, a seperate MPEG-2 plugin probably has to be purchased; you can find out if you create a new SVCD project and try to add a divx-file. it either converts it or asks to install that plugin. you can ofcourse convert your movie by hand with TMPGEnc or freeware tools; there are lots of help pages available about how to do it, just search for "divx to svcd" in google, you find something like this: **broken link removed**
