O/T Septoplasty

Hey guys, I'm literally a couple of hours away from getting my septoplasty done on my nose. I'm sure some other guys here have probably had this done, I was curious as to what you guys recovery time was like and when you started working out again? My doc said I could be looking at 2 weeks with no gym and I didn't like the sound of that : (

I had my my nasal septal fixed along with rhinoplasty...It was pretty bad for the first couple days, but youll prolly be prescribed Percocets, then your bruising will be pretty bad for about 2-3 weeks, but you can go to the gym and train light after 1.5 wks or so after the procedure...itll take about a month to be ok, but again I had rhinoplasty too so I was real swollen for about a good month and a half. Good luck with your procedure, it was the best money I spent for this procedure ever.

Just an update my procedure was at 1:30 CT literally 3 hours ago and I'm already up and about, eating and everything. It is a little painful and annoying but oh well. and Mr. E I got lortab's....I also think this will be a great procedure for me. I've always been a little bit self conscious about my nose as it was pretty crooked from all the hell I started in high school...sometimes with guys I probably shouldn't of started stuff with ; )

I guess you live and learn!

Another update, this thing sucks with all this gauze packed in here. I've woke up every 30 minutes for the past 5-6 hours feeling like I can't breathe and with a dry sore throat. Lortab's aren't doing much good for the sleeping issue.

LOL, wait until the anesthesia and topical cocaine completely wear off... I remember waking up after my septoplasty and I was ready to go. After a few hours it was crash time.

You'll be out of the gym for 2 weeks. Your nose may feel raw/numb for a little while. Don't be surprised if you don't taste things as well for a month. You may also get bruised eye lids in a few days. It all depends on how much work the doctor had to do.

Removing the packing is going to be a treat. It reminds me of that scene from total recall. You'll be really happy once everything heals up. I know I could breath so much easier and it felt like I had more energy.

Another update...took the packing out and BAM everything felt so much better just like you guys said haha! Getting some problems now though...

It turns out she had to do like 3x more work than she originally thought as my cartiledge was ALL over the place. So I take my packing out feel better but my swelling was ridiculous. I go in for my post op today and it wasn't healing right at all. So she shoves the plastic splint like thing up into my right nostril to straighten up the healing process. It pretty much is just putting constant pressure on the spot where she hammered away at a gazillion times. I've been an athlete all my life and also had ACL surgery so I know some pain, but I'm telling you what, this pain I'm feeling right now is EXCRUCIATING.

Oh well...classes start tomorrow and I have this thing stuck in here along with a string hanging out from it taped to my nose. I can't wait to see the looks I get on campus, moreso from any beautiful women I have in class with me
