Does anyone here care to share their experience regarding occlusion training? I'm reading more and more about it and seems many Olympians have adopted it. Any recommendations regarding bands. protocol?

It’s insanely painful. I like it for arms, and hamstrings. I don’t use it often but I like when it comes up in a mountaindog program

I don’t know man I just feel like it’s another “reinventing the wheel” thing all the “pros” that do it built muscle just fine without it and so do others.
This. People take something simple and make it complicated. I could see people already at their genetic limit maybe using this everything else (sleep, diet, intensity, programming) is on point, but most people would benefit optimizing the things that we know matter.

When I said, "Olympians" I meant IOC Olympians, not IFBB Olympians. :)
Which Olympians?

It has some practical use for ultraendurance-type sport, but preferentially recruits slow twitch fibers. It's a novel means to build muscle, while staying quite weak.

Ive tried it calves painful, quads unbearable

Arms for sure it seems to work, haven't used it in a while

I wouldn't use it more than fifteen minutes. Also don't go too tight maybe 60 to 70 percent or you could kill yourself by cutting off an alterie

There's science behind it

If it really worked that great wouldn’t you be using it more often then ?

Sounds way to risky for the sake of .0003% growth or whatever “scientists” says. Listen all do respect id say the same thing to John Meadows who’s on this board (barely) i truly respect that guy and listen to him but I think it’s all just a horse shit farce thing that might kinda work sometimes. Better off just training hard,
Mind muscle time under tension and progressive overload. IMO

I forgot about it

I've never stuck with it long enough to tell but while I'm going through a minor injury, which I've had quite a good amount of challenges with my left elbow , since 2004, it has seemed to help arm size , when not going as heavy as I was

I think it's a good idea do it before your heavy sets, with your heavy sets, or after your heavy sets

Remember soreness does not equal growth , thisll make arms sore, pumped

May be a good idea to do before hitting the stage

I think a lot of you are not understanding what the majority are using it for. Its for people who don't or can't train heavy. Its a good way to get type 2 fibers exhausted without stressing joints and tendons. If you aren't using cuffs with pressure monitors like bstrong then your likely not getting the most out of it either.

It is a useful method for the elderly or people with injuries, etc...

Personally, I think there are better methods, even for the elderly, just reduce the weight and do more reps, little rest and get a pump.

I use it here and there for my calves. I was recommended to try it from a physical therapist, who specializes in college and professional football players injuries(tons of acl's)..I think its greatest value is training around legitimate injuries.. The medical community also uses a way better version than the straps sold online but cost $$$.

Total waste of time and money in my opinion.
