I'm at about 5,000 cals daily. I take in about 500g of protein (about half from a flavorless powder that I mix in gatorade and have with each meal) and about 500 g of carbs (mostly complex, except for the 100g of dextrose I have with my post training shake). I take in roughly 100g of fat daily.
Thus, protein is 40% of my total cals as it carbs. Fat represents about 20%. I keep fat low while bulking because of the high carb intake. Incidentally, try not to mix your carbs and fats. Plus, cut the carbs a couple of hours before bed. Try to get the bulk of them early in the day where they're more likely to be burned.
*Note* I don't count imcomplete proteins (like those from beans) or fibrous carbs (like those from veggies).
Oh yeah, I'm coming back after a layoff. I'm at 259 right now, down from my glorious 300 + pounds. I'm working my way back to my old fat and happy state though.
Everyone is so different really. I tried going really high(for me that is) close to 5000 calories a day and it was way too much. I wasnt eating junk either. Lots of beef and turkey with the occasional piece of fish. I found my body likes higher fats and a little lower carbs. I try to keep it around 3500 on my high days and then around 3100 on my low days. Around 350 grams protein and carbs around 300 with about 100 grams of fats comming from roasted nuts, natural peanut butter, udos oil, read meat, and salmon. I used this type of diet and I got up to 237 (Im 5'9) and I was way harder and and felt great. Im currently sitting around 225-227 first thing in the AM on an empty stomach and I just got clipped a couple days ago at 11.6. I'd like to get my BF down one more point before my last phase of my off-season and then I'll be dieting for a show in July.
3500-500 calories and i keep it 60% protein..20% fat and 20% carbs...when i up my carbs any higher i get fatter not bigger...it took years to find that out and i did not find it myself someone pointed that out to me...thanks Phil
Taking into account my age , if I eat 4000 calories or more a day (of a "good" macronutrient mix), I just get fat. I'm 5'6", 200# and ~12% BF now. About 3500 calories with 300-350g protein, ~200g "good" carbs and balance in fats seems to work good for "me."
