Ordering Meat.

Do you guys actually order meat online? (ELK, BUFFALO)

I'm itching for something different and have noticed on a few threads that some of you are using different protein sources.

I don't eat seafood (never have and propably never will)
I also work at a steakhouse, so usually eat a filet 5 days a week.
That being said the nutritional information on elk and buffalo has peaked my interest, and being a true carnivor at heart i want to try it!

I have found a few websites however they all only ship 20lbs or more! (buggers), anyone care to share their hidden gem or butcher?

So buy the 20lbs. The last time I went to the butcher which was alittle over a week ago I got 40lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts, 15lbs lean NY Strip steaks (1" thick which is around 7.5-8.0 oz's), and 15lbs 97/3 Ground Sirloin. This cost me about $102.00 which is pretty good. Generally when you buy in bulk its cheaper as well. I order bufallo from Iowa from time to time.

THats insane. I pay 2.99 a pound for the chicken. THat alone would put me over 120$!! The cheapest source I have found is costco brand kirkland chicken. What state are you in?

SORRY BUT I DON'T BELIEVE A WORD OF THE ABOVE..$102...Must have been ground up and found in a 44lb bag of Purina dog chow..

Thanks man, exotic www.exoticmeats.com looks awesome. I found a local breeder/butcher for grass fed bison only 40minutes away. And funny enough he offered a HUGE discount if I bought 1/4 of the bison! (wont be doing that)

Either way I need to find a local butcher, but till then I will be ordering gator, ostrich, boar and whatever else they have on that web site! woot woot

I've ordered elk, buffalo, ostrich, and venison online. I also bought a quarter grass-fed cow with a friend of mine. I wouldn't do that again and wouldn't recommend it because you get ALL of the cow. All the gross fatty meat and soup bones along with the good cuts.

I've been wanting to place an order at www.exoticmeats.com. You can get just about anything there: boar, kangaroo, rattlesnake, alligator, llama.

Wow! I just looked at the Buffalo prices. That place is expensive. $22.00/lbs for Top Sirloin and $10.50/lbs for ground. That's exactly twice what I've been paying. I've been ordering 20lbs at a time through one of the local restaurant's I frequent.

I am a butcher on the weekends for benefits threw my union, no ordering meats for me. 1.99$ a pound nicely freezer wrapped new yorks and BL-BS chicken breast for me

When i head back to work friday ill see if we have any non-commercial cheap companies to order from.

Do they at least cut the cow up or do they send you a big leg quarter like something out of the Godfather?

HA HA you guys crack my butt!

Well I acutally have some Elk and Buffalo in the freezer. I can hunt Elk, hunt or buy Buffalo, and hunt most other game where I live. I grew up eating wild game and still like it but Buffalo is my favorite. A little leaner than beef all natural and tasty! If I buy it, I order it from the butcher and it comes from a ranch not too far from here. It takes a big freezer to buy a side at a time. Best of luck with ordering. I think it would be good to talk to a place local that order a lot and gets quality meat. Hate to order and get some poorly cut stuff as you will wear your jaw muscles out trying to eat it.
