Please help me name my new smoothie shop

I'm opening a 2500 sq ft smoothie/discount vitamin shop here in Wilmington NC. I'd really appreciate it if you guys would give me some help creating a name. I don't know if I want to have a name for the smoothie shop and a different one for the vitamin section, or just one name for both. Suggestions would be extremely appreciated.

Hey I lived in Tempe for a long time and still go to Scottsdale often. I want 2500 sq ft so that I can have a full service smoothie shop and a gnc type vitamin section with lots of variety and everything 25% off so I'm as cheap or cheaper then anyone else in town. We only have one Smoothie King and all the Planet Smoothies have gone out of business due to mismanagement (or so I'm told). Wilmington has over 90,000 people in the city. Any advice would help me out a lot. I've owned several gyms over the years but the smoothie business is new to me as I only sold premade drinks before.

One of the smoothie shops in the city does really well selling a hang over detox smoothie, make sure you have something like that on the menu

Since you will be a vitamin shop as well as a smoothie shop, I think you need the name to reflect this so people will know you offer more than just a smoothie shop.... something like... Nature's Smoothies and Discount Vitamin Stop

im with dusty on this one 2500 sq ft is going to be too much overhead.. especially since you are trying to go with the discount theme, profit margins are not good in this business .. i have owned stores for over 6 years and my most profitable store is 1200 sq feet.. i think we have a max muscle in wilmington

.. not knowing at all, how 'health conscience' you're making your facility, i know that here in Toronto, people get really horny and ape shit over the word 'organic'

We have a really popular place, called Fresh.
Nice and simple, and they sell all organic foods/smoothies.

I really though suggest, aiming towards the female market. We're far more apt to shell out money for high priced smoothies. (i hate to be stereotyping but ..)
I'm sure you're already hunted on stats for your area, ect, and have a specific demographic in mind.

I would be very interested in details of your business plan - you plan on having a HUGE facility. I would be curious on how you even plan on covering basic costs on that level ... not to mention, the amount of product you'd need to just fill that space ...

In NC, does your store need to get a food handling license? or anything of a legal by standing to ensure proper insurance coverage? What sort of business insurance will you need?

I know I've seen more than a handful of these places fold here in Toronto within a few months ... so I'd really be interested in how things work out for you in NC.

I'm really curious on what's required based on your State to open a food providing 'store' -

2500 sq ft may be a lot, but I'm going to have 2 stores in one and I'll need an office in the back that's big enough for my 2 kids to go when they are with me. The other smoothie store in town does an average of $800 a day during the busy season and around $400 a day when it's slow. If I can do $500 a day in smoothies and sell $500 a day in supplements, I'll be doing pretty good. Hey Aqua, I'm not planning on having any fresh fruit that's not frozen first, because if I do I'll have to deal with the health department, which would mean all kinds of different permits and restrictions. Despo, we don't have a max muscle here in Wilmington, so I'm going to try and provide alot of stuff they do. Belts, gloves, straps, that kind of stuff. The Smoothie Shak does have a catchy name Big. Yea thanks Swerve, I agree with ya. A "hangover" smoothie would do great here in this college town!

I think you may want to look into your local health code laws. I could be wrong but I'm almost positive that you are going to have a lot more red tape to deal with than you think. We have five stores and only one offers smoothies. The one that offers smoothies is under 1500sq feet and we have no fresh or frozen fruit. We used a company called City Blends and all the fruit flavoring is a puree mix that is in bags. The blender is operated with codes and knows how much of each puree to use based on what smoothie you tell it you are making. The only reason that I am telling you this is because we still had to deal with permits and follow strict codes with the build out. I hope I'm wrong because it was a pain in the ass and cost a grip.

I would also seriously consider getting less space. Dead space doesn't make money and if you don't have enough product to fill the space your store will look empty. Just my .02. Good luck with the new store. It's great to be in the industry but it's also VERY cut throat so you always need to be on your A game if you want to be sucessful.
