Pre-Military Drug Testing

I have a friend who's getting ready to join up but is curious as to what kind of test they run at MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station).

Anyone savvy in this area? Would TEST show up if that was the only thing he was on?

My boy is in AF and he has been on most of the time and taken a ton of the random drug test and they only test for rec's unless someone dogs him out or he has a aggression issue with someone

Yes I know this to be true but I'm more concerned about the series of test they do to you before you enter the service.

All Semper Fi guys I've talked to say it's only for rec's...Only reason they ever pull the aas test is if you piss someone ranked higher than you off.
You have to remember that everyone on your side wants the most bad ass dude there to save their ass if it comes down to it...From what I've heard, bottom line is, keep your nose clean and kiss the appropriate ass They won't test for aas unless they know and want you removed.

I'm telling you that neighbors and bros of mine say they don't test for it pre-entry at all.

If you don't take their word for it, think about it logically...It's going to cost WAY too much for an unecessary test for most of the skinny guys entering the Marine Core anyways.

They just want to weed out the addicts/thin the herd.

I did a stint in the military and as a recruiter and I can assure you that MEPS does not test for AAS. It is the exact same test that all Active Duty personnel are adminstered. Just tell him to stay cool and tell nobody anything no matter what the recruiter say. We used to say that when a recruit say NO it means Naval Opportunites and YES means Your Enlistments Stops. Keep cool and be quiet.

This is correct. Served over 20 yrs, MEPS only test for rec drugs. Now when he becomes permanent party (active duty) he needs to watch out...meaning if he grows to fast or is just to big he has a chance of getting tested for roids. Had a friend who competed he was 5"5" 225lbs off season juicing it up and I told him whatever you are on you need to watch it, went TDY for a couple of months and when I got back he was long gone, he got popped for roids.

I agree he must be careful and i mean extremely. I would advise buying bigger uniforms prior to cycle. That way, when you start growing it is a tad less noticable. The big thing is be smart, keep a cool head and talk to no one about your use. Believe me, you will be asked. Hell I was completely natural when I was in and still got the question. Just stay cool and quiet. I mean the Military have a couple IFBB Pro's so come on. well one I know just retired after serving his 20 years. Just be smart.

I'm soooooo tired of all the bullshitters around that claim to know. So let me tell you, from EXPERIENCE! The military does NOT test for juice unless you do something that would make them suspect you of using them, and even then it requires special command approval because the cost of testing is considerable, and testing is done by an outside testing facility, not a military facility. For example, they find evidence of use in your ROOM like vials, etc. Simply gaining weight will not cause a test to be initiated. Let's not forget, the average military person is NOT a geek, is interested in physical fitness. however, it you turn into a complete fucking asshole AND are using roids, I hope they would test you to get you the fuck outta there!
Bottom line is, if you're smart, you'll never get tested. If you're dumb, you deserve what you get.

Right...though they do not care about the cost. They must, however, have probable cause. They will inform you of the probable cause, ask you to volunteer to pee, which you deny, they will then command direct you to pee if the probable cause passes JAG (most likely), then the sample is sent to an outside facility, The UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory to be exact.

Your buddy is going to MEPS, he's not already in the military so really he doesn't have to worry even if he knows he's gonna piss hot for recs. Worse thing that will happen is that they will make him waite longer and take another test when he is clean. it doesn't go on his record cuz he's still a civilian. I was in the army for 5 years (03' to 08') and when I went to basic there were dudes that pissed hot at MEPS and all they had to do was what I just said. Hell, there were even guys that pissed hot the day you go back to MEPS and ship out to basic training...and guess what, nothing happened to them. This was about 6 1/2 years ago though, so maybe things have changed. But probably not...the military is hurting for people.

I served on active duty in the Marine Corps in the early90's with 10th Marines in Camp Lejeune N.C. and I know for a fact that they never tested us for anything other then rec drugs, thats why we took hits of acid(didnt smoke weed) cause it only shows up on a spinal tap. they dont test for aas, tell your boy he's safe. AND TO ALL MY FELLOW DEVIL DOGS OUT THERE, SEMPER FI!!!!

Look, he just needs to ensure he does not do any rec drugs...if he goes and starts asking strange questions he may get some unwanted attention. If T is all he is on he is good to go.
