I except they all have their aches and pains, some more
than others. But they probably just don't complain about
it in a public forum, or in interviews too much, it's a fact
of life, comes with the territory, that's a given. Don't think
many people escape unscathed, especially at that level.
Can you imagine this? . . . on the victory stand, being
interviewed, giving their thanks, then saying how much
their shoulders hurt, wish my elbow would heal, Oh my
aching back, etc. . . No, I don't think so. But get a bunch
of Pro's together in room by themselves, and I would be
willing to bet that injuries are somewhere near the top of
the discussion list. Just a guess on my part.
Injuries like tendonitis, it's part of deal, happens to everybody.
But if your livelihood depends on it, you just deal with it like
all pro athletes do and hope it isn't debilitating to the point
where you can no longer perform. They just work around it,
mask it, and do the best they can to prevent injuries. But many
injuries are just plain unavoidable as the human body just isn't
designed to what many desire it to do, and injuries result.
If you have ever been to strength coaching clinic, or an event
attended by a bunch of "old timers" (I have), many of the older
guys, bodybuilders that have been in the game for many many
years, some but not all can barely hobble around, have bad
knees, backs, shoulders, you name it. And to paraphrase
what somebody here once said . . . "go gotta be tough to
grow old, it's not for wimps . . ." Injuries, large or small, are
an inevitable part of this game if you stay in it long enough
and play hard.
Just my 0.02 cents worth.
