Im currently dealing with an annoying case of what my doctor thinks is tendonitis of one of the biceps tendons due to overuse and im losin my mind a little bit being out of the gym. It made me wonder what the pros must encounter in terms of overuse/stress injuries with barely taking time off if any due to multiple shows a year. How do they stay going so hard months/years at a time, is it the GH? cortisone shots? or just ballsing through stuff and praying it fixes itself? Any thoughts??

I bet most all do ART and deep tissue massages, use foam rollers, of course hgh helps. Tendonitis is a bitch though just when you think its all healed bamm it pops right back up again.

I had tendonitis for years in my knees ... I thought. Turns out it was micro tears in the tendons, separating from the patella. I found this out after squatting 10 weeks ago and BOTH knees snapped, tendons ripped off the bone of both patellas. After surgery and 4 nights in the horsepistol, I stayed in 2 full leg casts for 5 weeks, then in locked braces until now I'm able to bend a little. I posted more details several weeks ago.
Not saying all tendonitis is of this magnitude, in fact a bilateral quad tendon rupture is very rare, but I am saying pay attention to your pain. I masked mine with cortisone, loads of glucosamine, anti inflammatories, until my pain was nominal, and I was able to squat heavy again with little pain.

Ouch

Didn't that happen to a pro bodybuilder during a photo shoot?

I've had something for 3 months now. I can do regular curls with a little pain. When i do hammers it's unbearable. Upright rows are worse, fuck sometimes I cant pour a glass of milk, even thogh I don't drink it. My kids do though. I haven't trained in 3 months now and the shit stillhurts.

I can only do hammer, regular curls make me cry like an Italian Soccer Player.

frequent deep tissue massage is what kept me away from tendinitis

I except they all have their aches and pains, some more
than others. But they probably just don't complain about
it in a public forum, or in interviews too much, it's a fact
of life, comes with the territory, that's a given. Don't think
many people escape unscathed, especially at that level.

Can you imagine this? . . . on the victory stand, being
interviewed, giving their thanks, then saying how much
their shoulders hurt, wish my elbow would heal, Oh my
aching back, etc. . . No, I don't think so. But get a bunch
of Pro's together in room by themselves, and I would be
willing to bet that injuries are somewhere near the top of
the discussion list. Just a guess on my part.

Injuries like tendonitis, it's part of deal, happens to everybody.
But if your livelihood depends on it, you just deal with it like
all pro athletes do and hope it isn't debilitating to the point
where you can no longer perform. They just work around it,
mask it, and do the best they can to prevent injuries. But many
injuries are just plain unavoidable as the human body just isn't
designed to what many desire it to do, and injuries result.

If you have ever been to strength coaching clinic, or an event
attended by a bunch of "old timers" (I have), many of the older
guys, bodybuilders that have been in the game for many many
years, some but not all can barely hobble around, have bad
knees, backs, shoulders, you name it. And to paraphrase
what somebody here once said . . . "go gotta be tough to
grow old, it's not for wimps . . ." Injuries, large or small, are
an inevitable part of this game if you stay in it long enough
and play hard.

Just my 0.02 cents worth.

Well put, injuries happen to everyone in every sport

In this game, Tendonitis comes with it. It is just a given. You can treat it like the above mentioned...... But it will flare back up in no time....Getting older and ( Heavy BB'ing) Tendonitis will always be there.

While it's true that injuries are part of any athletes life. If you are injury prone you will never be a pro. In most sports injuries wash out a very high percentage of young hopefuls before they become professionals.

If your body isn't capable of sustaining the required workload then you won't make the cut.

This weeding process generally means that pros in any sport are going to be more rugged than normal folk. Still injured yes, but far less likely to injure than the less genetically gifted.

I'm not a pro BB'er, but I have tendinitis in my bicep tendon. My left arm is about an inch smaller because of it. Very frustrating, I've totally removed any direct forearm work.

Dammit man .... that's exactly what happened to me, only about 3 less plates on each side. Shee-it, that was nasty!

Anybody know if he had to get surgery? Did he compete anymore?
