protein shakes, milk or water?

What are the benefits of drinking it with milk or water? Which way should I be doing it and why?

I personally prefer it with milk for the extra calories and protein and it taste much better.

Some people say it absorbs faster when in water. why is this important?
 
Skim milk all the way baby!
Taste better, more protein bang for your buck and the added benefit of casein.

It depends on you're goals. If im on a lean bulk I will have about 50% of my shakes with milk, also things like PB and fruit. If im dieting I prefer to avoid the lactose in milk through out.
 
Just use whey and maltodextrin(sp?) after the workout. The casein in milk is slow to deigest and essentially negates the body's ability to quickly utilize the whey.

Really?
I know casein is slower acting, but negates the bodies ability to use whey effectively?
Never heard this before.
Have you got any links to provide scientific evidence of this?

There is a lot of hype in the supplement industry about digestion and protein synthesis, but the difference is very slight, enough to not worry about.
 
Milk = Bloat

That goes for everyone!!! Some very slight (As in a little water retention) some very major.

There have been numerous studies on Milk and they all show that "ALL" humans have a slight alergy to Cow milk.

There are some goodies in Milk though. Protein, taste, and Carbs if you need them.
 
Bulking / Cutting

Depends on what your caloric goals are and when you're taking it.

Personally though I take all of my protein shakes in water.

I think of it this way: Bulking, not competing or trying to lose weight I'll take whey concentrate. But if I'm dieting down I'm going to take isolate / hydrosolate in h20.
 
I drink all my protein shakes during the day with water, but the last one before bed I use skim milk because I don't want to be hungry in the middle of the night.
