Recieved this email the other day and thought it was preetty cool. BigA will definitely like this one.

A New York man retired. He wanted to use his retirement money wisely, so it would last, and decided to buy a home and a few acres in Portugal. The modest farmhouse had been vacant for 15 years the owner and wife both had died, and there were no heirs. The house was sold to pay taxes. There had been several lookers, but the large barn had steel doors, and they had been welded shut. Nobody wanted to go to the extra expense to see what was in the barn, and it wasn't complimentary to the property anyway......so, nobody made an offer on the place.

The New York guy bought it at just over half of the property's worth, moved in, and set about to tear in to the barn.......curiosity was killing him.

So, he and his wife bought a generator, and a couple of grinders.......and cut thru the welds.

What was in the barn...............?

Go to www.intuh.net/barnfinds/afa70.htm and start wishing it you had bought the place.

wow. you could spend years just restoring those cars, one at a time. Keep some, sell some. That's awesome! I always love those stories, I don't know why.

I heard a weird one one time about people buying a house that was built by a guy who also owned a movie theater. Apparantly when tearing down the walls, they discovered the guy had used those old vintage movie posters as insulation (thousands of them). I guess they were vintage so they were worth big $$$. I never even knew there was a subculture out there collecting stuff like that.

I'm still waiting to meet that little old lady who has a 57 chevy Bel-Air and only drives it on sundays to go to church down the block, but if i found this when i opened the barn doors i might have had a heart attack

What a find. A freind of mine years ago was told by by the wife of the towns doctor(deceased) if he whated an old Chevy come out to the house and get it out of the garage. He didn't want to pick up some old ragged out Caprice or Impala but had a freind that needed a car. He ask if the freind could go get the car and she said sure she needed the space. His freind got a tow truck to go out with him to pick up the Chevy, turns out the old Chevy was an old Corvette, nice freinds, right. J.R.

UNBELIEVABLE.

I would never work again lucky man. MM

I saw that a while ago. It always has a different version of the story though.
Regardless, nice find. Hopefully not too many are beyond restoration.

Do the cars now belong to the new owner of the property? Yes or No damn it? Thats all I wanna know! :p

Like finding your own Gold Mine. What a collection! Good luck to him.

My x saw that and said, "Just old cars?"

You gota be kidin me ! I thought this was going to be a joke or something.

You would be surprised of all the collectors of all kinds of weird stuff for big bucks is out there......

In college I wored for a marketing company which marketed matchbox cars.....some rare ones went for $500 or more....for a matchbox car!!!
