OK, well, I am in Mexico right now, and again I am reminded how much I like saunas. I can purchase a modular one for $2500-$10,000 depending on the options I want, which I am going to do either way. There are 2 reasons for this post, which is any recommendations, and for some reason I have heard from some people that they promote cancer when run dry. (without adding water to the stones for humidity) I like it dry as I sweat like a brama bull and get vascular within 10 minutes. Anyone have info on this?

Don't you have better things to do with all that money? You're going to turn your house into a resort if you keep up with it. Make sure you put out a spot light on your grand opening, so I can see it from my house.

Dude, you know you have an open invitation. I am not there right now so walk in, use the roladex and call in some girlies :)

I'll let you know when that part is finished and the girlies are over though bro ;) See you soon in the gym after I get back from Mexico and de-alcohol-tox.

I dunno Kais, that's the first I've heard of dry saunas causing cancer. I like mine humid though. I sweat twice as much in the humidity and the veins are just sic! I hope someone else has info on this but I say it sounds like some anti-sauna bullshit. heat is heat. As long as you are not being roasted under sunlight or tanning bed then I can't see how a sauna is going to cause cancer!!!

My thoughts too.

Maybe a heart attack if your cardio-vascular functions are in poor condition, but cancer

But btw why would anyone need a sauna to make him sweat when he already has home this hottie Simone? :p ;)

As a Finn (we all are saunalovers), I have to say that an investment in sauna is always a buck well spent. Claim that dry (or wet) sauna causes a cancer is absolutely nonsensical. Build your sauna up and enjoy!

The only negative I have heard is that the heat is not good for your little
swimmers.

Thanks for your replies guys. I figured it was just a bullshit about the cancer thing, but who knows, maybe there is some fact behind it. I have over 1400sqft of basement with nothing in it so the room doesn't matter to me. I'll give it a shot, as I love those things. OF, I find the dry suanas work out better for me for some reason with the water. When humid it just seemed like the humidity clinging to me intead of me producing sweat like the fat guy I am :D

Phi, well, you get used to everything after a while and need something new ;)

Ive never heard this before. any reasoning on how and why it could even cause cancer?

I have no info on the cancer thing but just need to add that it's becoming more and more clear that rather than take a cruise after my shows next year HF and I are just going to come to your house. Between the landscaping, pool, sauna, and my favorite the play room, your house seems like the perfect place for my next vacation.

Saunas are really a long lost health elixir in my opinion. I used to like to go into one prior to working out to get my temp up and joints warm (fully clothed) when it was winter and it helped a lot I'd be in the stretching and flexing and these people would like freak out.
I didn't really find anything searching on cancer and dry saunas all I found were good therapeutic benefits like heavy metal detox, cardiovascular system benefits-heart rate can jump by as much as 30%! and you can lost a pint of water or more.
I'd go in pretty hydrated and drink a lot of fluids before and after-and maybe add some electrolytes to replenish.
Your post makes me want to go get one myself.
They are very relaxing, I guess like the whirlpools but you aren't getting the fluid loss with the whirl pools.
This study looks promising:

Hey kais, when is the big grand opening of "CLUB KAIS"?? I'll fly over for that one!! Shit I'll come over for the football season!!;) :p

Well Dusty, you know you two are always invited my man. You too OF. We just have to wait until next year when it's not 28 friggin degrees outside. :D

I completely agree Massive, the romans used to take steam baths all the time for their well being....

My parents have a shower/steam room at their house and when they go down to Florida for the winter Natalie and I are using it....lol....:p :D......Also, we both bring in huge glasses of ice water to drink while we are in their as it gets hot as hell and you sweat....well I sweat like a banchee in there...lol

One day when I can afford it I am going to put a steam room in my house too....they are awesome....

Hey Kaiser.....We are coming over too....LOL....

I was never one for the sauna and I can't even say why. I guess it must be the "dry heat". I do have a shower/steam room that I put in when I remodeled last year and that I do enjoy. Good luck!
