I dont know about being the same size as your calves, but I have trouble with them being the same size as my biceps. Wich in turn makes my biceps look smaller. For some reason I have really thick forearms from the side. I guess I got them from my dad cause he has BIG forearms and he does not even work out!
One guy in paticular was doing lat pull down with a shit load of weight (shitty form to match) when he finished he went over to the cable rows. It wasn't until he put his feet up to brace himself that i noticed how small his calves were. Im not talking a little smaller than his forearms, the last time i saw legs that skinny they were under a piano.
