Speedos are a NO No?

I had friends visiting from Europe this past week and being the nice host that I am, I took my guests (boyfriend/girlfriend) to the beach. I live in sunny California and the weather is almost flawless, anyhow once we arrived at the beach we all start getting undressed to take some sun and work on our tans. I strip down to board shorts, two other firnds do the same, my male guest from Europe takes it down to a skimpy speedo type swimsuit, the girl guest to a thong (not complaining). The guys start giving the guy in the speedo a hard time and tell him he should cover up because it just was not the thing to wear. My girl guest defended her man and said that speedo type suits are what is in in Europe and we should get over it. She made a good point when she said we as bodybuilders have no problem running around is posing trunks that very much like speedos!...so...which is it?...is it fair for bodybuilders to wear speedos/posing trunks and not regular guys?. I felt bad for my guests but I really didn't take sides, this little disagreement ruined our day at the beach.

I do however find that most people are very uncomfortable seeing guys in speedos, why?...Just wanted to vent..thanks..

People at a bodybuilding show are there to see bodybuilders in poseing trunks....people at the beach are not there to see that shit...

Be respectfull to other ppl is how I look at it....beside this is American...not Euro....

Europeans are no where near as uptight as USA people. They have the right personality as far as I am concerned. The laws have congested our train of natural sexual thought. Anyway, that's another story. Tell your fella I am happy he was himself, and did what he felt was normal. If you went to Pacific Beach, where I hung out in my younger days, then yea you'll get that type of reaction but as posted before, I'd be more foccused on the girl in a thong than anything else...If you were in my area, you'd know the 2 cove beaches(connected by an openning in the cliffs) where almost anything goes...There's usually a few girls or more either topless or completly nude laying out...True most guys will wear the board shorts but you will never get a heckler for wearring a speedo...Shit, you must of heard of Black's Beach...Great surf and clean water but old dudes playing volley ball nude...Tough to get down the cliff if you don't have the key from the lifeguards on their road(like I do) but worth the hike for the swell there...Next time take them to a beach that isn't as close minded...PM me if you want but I've only been to 2 places that were less close minded on the beach than my beaches and they happen to be in Italy and Spain...

We were at YellowStone National park and some German tourists were swimming.

We were all in the river and along the shore. The father and his sons were all wearing speedo type trunks...the wife...was pretty and wasn't wearing much other than when she got cold. At first I noticed "hey, you don't see that much around here"....but, I didn't give a shit. The guy was lean and looked good for being middle aged fella.

I bullshitted [typical of me!] with them and didn't give a shit about what he was wearing.

I have seen some bloated, fat, pieces of shit wearing those....and no some folks shouldn't wear that shit. Not cause I am prude...I just don't want to be grossed out.

I'll tell you guys...the water is cold here and those speedo shorts aren't too flattering if you're in the water very long! If you spend all your time laying around in the sun, all warm and relaxed, then it's another matter.

I have a real problem when it comes to how the US treats nudity. God forbid if someone shows a boob on TV. The media will go on and on about it for days. Freakin ridiculous. On the other hand it's OK to show mass killing on TV. I would much rather have my kid see a tit on TV then have him witness real life murder or any type of violence. Sex and nudity are NOT in any way related to violence. I remember as a kid having nightmares about the Charles Manson murders when I saw a movie about it. I can't recall ever having a nightmare about a naked woman, but I have had quite a few "other " type dreams.

After reading your responses, I totally agree..for each, his own, I mean whether you're a guy or girl, if you look good in a speedo or whatever, then more power to you, I think most people would like to wear skimpywear but are too worried about what other people will say or think. But I also agree that most of the time it's the fat, or really overweight people that have the nerve to wear speedos..guess they have notnhing to lose.

if i go to Japan, i'm not gonna say thanks and good bye when the other guy bows to me, i'll respect his customs and bow back. that kinda thing. i wasnt meaning to come off as "americans dont wear speedos so the rest of the globe shouldnt"

I totally understand what you are saying but on the flip side, I don't feel I should be forced to wear a speedo in Europe just because everyone else is and I prefer wearing board shorts. Its about being comfortable to wear what you want to wear
