Do steretch marks get darker the bigger you get or if your loosing size? Im getting really bad stretch marks all over my chest shoulders legs and biceps but feel as if im getting smaller..
I have heard from a dermatologist that zinc deficiency is strongly correlated with striae aka stretch marks as you gain weight/size. Zinc is vital to the maintenance of epithelial tissue - or the deeper layers of dermis. Other than getting your levels tested, if you regularly get mouth ulcers or have white spots aka leukonychia on your fingernails, you might have a zinc deficiency.
not really sure if zinc would be the deal, i do supplement with it.. However i have heard what you are talking about as well... not really sure about my weight, the scale i use max's out at 330.. Its said ERR for quite some time now..

Calcium greatly decreases Zinc absorbption BTW...
I can tell you from experience, they usually get darker (on me) when growing. they do fade quite well after a long while. Tanning helps make them less visible as well.
ok... good to know.. i was told preperation h is a good remedy for them.. Im gonna try it.. although i kinda like em.. Lets me know something is going on.. It is however starting to look like a spider web going down the inside of my bicep..
They are a nice dark red color when they are growing larger, as your skin is literally tearing. Later on once they heal they will turn a pretty pale white color. If you look closely at the ones in my inner thigh you can see the little horizontal bands of connective tissue stretching across the width of the stretchmark. Tiny little lines running across. The ones on my inner thigh were so bad that when I first got them they would literally bleed when I did squats. I had blood dripping down my inner thigh.
Stretch marks dont get bigger unless you are getting bigger or gaining weight. Fat or muscle. Tanning can make them darker and Prep H will only tighten the skin temp, it will not make them go away. Once you've got them you will have them forever. As you loose weight they will thinner in size. Vitamin e lotion or gel can make them heal up quicker and not be as bright/dark.
When your stretch marks are getting bigger and are fresh they usually have a dark dark purple color and that's you're muscle that you are looking at that's purpleish.. But once you stop growing for a while, that tissue heals and returns to a pigmented color depending on your actual skin color.
Cocoa butter is great. If you can stop them and see a doc before they turn white they can laser them away. Once they go white that's it nothing will ever help.
