Hey Everyone,
Let me start by saying it’s good to be back and to see how much this board has evolved and progressed in the 2+ years of my absence.
Many of you may remember that my new GF had a brain aneurysm on July 10, 2007. She has recovered REMARKABLY from that ordeal. I stuck with her through thick and thin (and there were times when I was not wanted around). She just seemed to make it clear that we really were not a good match. Through a number of events, I ended up going to a paid dating service during one of our “down” times (they took screened, took pics made video, etc) for one final attempt (before the VERY EXPENSIVE subscription expired), to try and find a mate. My original search at this site covered the 48-58 range (since I’m 56). Almost EVERYONE I contacted said no thanks – I did get two dates but they really weren’t interested. So for my final run, I expanded into the 40-50 range, thinking I’d stay at the upper end of this scale.
Now I was reading what they had to say and was interested in meeting someone that we’d match. Same thing, all not thank you, probably about 15, but I did get an email from one (did not get notified by the site) that she knew the site notification wasn’t working and to see if I wanted to meet. Now she did some sole-searching as she really liked what I said about myself – she checked with her family and decided what the hell. When I went back to check her out on the site, I found out she’s 41!!! The connection between us is UNREAL. Everything (and I mean everything) that we find out about each other is nothing but great. We enjoy literally all of the same things, enjoy doing the same things, and really enjoy each other’s company. We made a VERY strong connection of the heart before we made a physical connection. ALL of us enjoy sex but when you have a connection in the heart, it takes it to a whole ‘nother level – I call “love making.”
Now my first date with her was on June 29, 2009, a dinner date. We followed up with a day trip to the south side of Mt St Helens. She commented that we spent all day together (at least 4 hours of it in the car) and were about to have great conversation and we didn’t even turn the radio on. At this point, I told the other gal, who I really believe was with me because I felt she owed it to me rather than wanting to be with me, took a complete turn. She wanted to move in together, make up for lost time, do everything that did not happen in over two years. I felt sad but had to move on. The picture of us below was taken under a water fall at a state park – many comment that it looks like Hawaii!
Due to a series of events and injuries (that started when I was back in Pittsburgh during summer of 2007), I ended up having my left shoulder (the good one) overhauled. They did the following and were able to do all of this through a scope (my Therapist was AMAZED that all of this was done without getting cut open):
1) Sew the supraspanatus back together (a 10cm tear - which they thought may have been torn off the bone – but wasn’t – as it wasn’t clear in the MRI)
2) Shave off the acromion (I believe it was a Type 4, which impinged on the supraspanatus)
3) Decompression of the labrum joint
4) Sew two tears in the labrum
5) Remove a spur on the end of the humerus
6) Remove arthritis on the end of the clavicle
As the Ortho said, he did a roto-rooter on my shoulder. I had an AMAZING Therapist and recovery went very quickly. Originally he said 6 months healing before any real physical activity (light weights). I was so advanced in my recovery, when he saw me at 4 months he said I could start with light weights. At the recommendation of my Therapist, I waited another couple of weeks but at the end of 6 months the Ortho gave me the green light to go after it –just go slow and cautious.
Of course, I “tried” to eat clean esp since I wasn’t working out – but fell off more than I wanted. My BF probably got up to around 10-11% and I felt pretty soft. When I started hitting the light weights, I started getting serious about the diet. When I met my gal, I was probably 9-10% BF but still felt really out of shape. In the pic, it looks like I’ve got a belly but IT REALLY WASN’T that big. So my gal’s seen and met me at my more-or-less worst (I was on the upswing but not for very long yet).
It’s really been a SLOW recovery – I got the full OK by the ortho around July 20. I’m now 175 lb, probably around 7-8% BF and on my way back (starting to get really cut). I know my BF is about that because I went from about a 34-35 inch waist down to 31 inch. I’m sure my gal notices, even though she hasn’t said anything as she’s rubbing my chest as much in bed as I’m sucking on her tits! As I was “on my way back to getting into shape” her youngest son saw me in a T-Shirt and said “you’re really buff!” - he’s only 13
I know that within a year, by working out “smart,” I’ll be back to benching 315 for 5 reps as part of my tear-down sets.
