mildred sparrow said:what differentiates synthepure from something like Trueprotein's ion exchange whey isolate? Trueprotein's ion exchange whey has just over 93 grams of protein per hundred grams, so there is a slight difference there, but is there something else that causes synthepure to be that much better?
Especially so much so that I'd be willing to pay $20/lb. for it (going by the prices on the website $39.95 for 2lb. container - is that right?) as opposed to paying $8.33/lb for Trueprotein's product?

If it truly is tasteless i'll be buying up a bunch.
Heck i was talking to skip about this the other day, glad Phil posted about it.

Isn't CFM trademarked?
mildred sparrow said:Big A - a couple more questions
SynthePURE is CFM.
What does CFM stand for?
There's 5 different grades of whey isolate. With the lowest grade costing 40% of how much it costs to make the highest grade. And they all are called 'whey isolate'!
What are the five different grades in order of grade? I know of cold filtration, microfiltrated, and ion exchange and, based on the difference in pricing for those three from trueprotein I would assume that they grade from lowest to highest as I listed them. I assume CFM is the highest grade. What is the 5th grade?

Rex Feral said:I understand we are talking about a board sponsor here and I respect that. But, the fact of the matter is nothing justifies the cost of Synthepure @ $20/lb. The same quality protein can be had for $7-8/lb. I don't care where you live, it does not cost $12-13/lb to ship protein. There is simply no way to dispute this. It is a waste of money plain and simple. They also sell maltodextrin for $8/lb. The same powder can be had for $2-2.50/lb. There are those of you that have money to burn I am sure, and those of you receiving Synthepure at wholesale. But, for the rest of us, their whey isolate and maltodextrin is nothing but a huge waste of money. Of course anyone who knows anything knows this already. My post is directed at the more naive among us. As a community we should be here to help each other out. No one in their right mind should be paying $20/lb for whey isolate or $8/lb for malto.

Big A said:Here's the exact breakdown of shipping (call Australia Post):
Air Mail - AU$35 (US$27). Packaging AU$2.50 (US$1.75) - total shipping cost US$28.75.
Now you are looking at another AU$3 (US$2.20) for the packaging of the actual product and you are up to US$30.95 for everything else BUT the protein powder.
A quick call to NZMP and you'll get the quote that if you buy in tons (1,000kg) lots, the price will be AU$19/kg (US$13/kg) so about US$6 per pound.
So US$12 worth of product plus the US$30.95 for the packaging and shipping you have a cost per tub of $42.95.
And that doesn't include the man hour cost either!
Customers pay US$39.95, out of which Synthetek loses a percentage to the credit card company or to PayPal - around 2% or US$0.80.
So Synthetek actually LOSES money (about US$3 per tub)for every single tub of SynthePURE that it sells to the US.
Figures for the maltodextrin are MUCH worse.
So stop talking out of your ass when you don't actually know the facts and be happy that SynthePURE is available at a loss to the manufacturer.
Of course, Synthetek could use a whey isolate blend like 99.99% of other companies use that only costs AU$3.50 (US$2.70) per kg to make, but then again it wouldn't have the integrity that it has as a company.
So I wonder who the scammers really are? Synthetek who sells the best whey isolate by far at a loss! Or 99.99% of other supplement companies that sell cheap ass whey isolate that gives you gas and bloats the fuck out of you for 5 times the manufacturing cost?
I truly cannot stand ignorance coming out of people's mouths when they have NO IDEA what they are talking about!
Bottom line is, if you want the absolute best quality protein powder there is, you have to pay for it. If you don't like the price, blame Bush because he destroyed the US$.
