I know I need to take some time off due to nagging injuries and small tears in biceps that I have avoided and worked around. My question is do you still do cardio and abs while taking off from gym? How long do you take off?

It is going to be very hard to take time off but I know I need it....thoughts?

It's always best to take whatever type of time off you need, and for as long as you need to heal. In other words, if you need to give your shoulders a break to heal, but you can still do legs, I say go ahead. as long as you don't anything that prolongs or could worsen the injury I would think you're ok. Listen to your body, it'll tell you what it needs.
