I live in Tucson.
What part of town are you thinking about living in?...
Gold's on Speedway is not bad at all - that's where I train now.
I'd steer clear of LA Fitness - all of them from what I understand, unless you train in the mid afternoon.
Power and Physique is a good gym if you're a PL'er.

Honestly bro i dont know. This is in the very early stages and im just trying to find out a few things about Tucson.I did google search and noticed 2 Gold's Gyms. As far as the lay out of Tucson at this point I don't know what part is nice and what part is not.
NW Tucson (Oro Valley area) is growing rapidly with a lot of housing complexes going up.
The foothills (N. section of Central Tucson) is a very upscale area. Million dollar homes and much higher.
In Central Tucson, as you go south things become a bit more impoverished. Tucson is very hispanic in general, but the Mexican American culture is very strong in South Tucson. Many businesses may not have anyone working there who speaks English in south Tucson. (Its kind of cool, IMO.)
Downtown and 6th Avenue area (near the University and West of there) are very busy and compact, but there's a lot of very quaint homes in that area. 6th Avenue is kind of the Haight-Ashbury area of Tucson.
SW Tucson is very industrial - not many homes at all.
East Tucson is out of the city limits and more rural. NE runs up against the mountain and SE runs close to Vail, AZ - very rural and growing. There's been talk of a Mall of the America's coming to that area (near Vail or between there and the MX border I think), which would seriously make that area a madhouse and totally change (eliminate) its rural character.
Tucson is in dire need of a highway. I live way east and a friend from my hometown's folks live here in Tucson as well, but in the NW area. It takes me over an hour to get to their house. They are drivewise as close to the south part of "Phoenix" (Chandler) and they are to me...
