So no, I think your reasoning is way off. Too much pain, scar tissue build-up, and you could even damage muscle tissue... leading to decrease in size afterwards.

Depends on the kind of pain. If it's from the actual compound (the injection hurts) it's as Phidias said, because you are sensitive.
If the pain is from the stretching, then, you are correct.
