I almost exclusively eat deer, elk, hogs, fish, and shrimp….i harvest it all my self

Elk chop with shrimp is hands down my favorite meal.

If you are in the Houston area check out the rainbow lodge..their elk chop with potato and cheese enchiladas and a nice glass of scotch is perfect

So, a little background..I do not go out a lot anymore..but if my wife and I go out it’s someplace nice where we have to dress up and make reservations.

So, whenever we go to these places I know there is a chef in the kitchen getting paid a lot of money to cook that shit..so whenever the waiter comes to the table to tell me what the chef recommends I just order it..I don’t look at the menu or ask questions.

I was there one day..I had been there many times before and the chef happened to recommend the elk chop on that day. I know order it every single damn time.

Look wise it’s kinda like a ribeye but not as wide, but longer..probably 10oz worth of meat..the potato enchiladas are spicey..we always get a side of jalapeño cheese grits with it too..it’s cooked like a ribeye..most people if you didn’t tell them what it was would assume it was a ribeye

Most of the menu has exotic meats on it..they have their own garden and everything the harvest from..it’s in the middle of Houston but it’s an old hunting cabin

This is a rare and awesome treat since selling hunted game meat is illegal. Whole Foods, Amazon, and other places sell venison and elk from certified farms, and the quality can be really good.
