What do you gain in a bulk.

I always just ate healthy. Drink my protein …….

But this year decided to do a bulk. Never had much of an appetite so while I got big. Never crazy crazy huge. This year I purposely ate like a pig for 4 months. Healthy but in larger more frequent than ever. Gained 45 lbs. omg. I needed xxxl shirts. So last month did the carnivore and lost 33 in under 3 weeks.

Kinda wanna keep repeating bulk then cut but reading most gain like 2 lbs a month. Just doesn’t seem like a lot.

Does anyone shoot for a particular gain of pounds. Them cut I’m older and wish I did a lot differently. Spending 3 hours min in gym. Goin to gym 2x a day. I don’t think any of it helped. Getting more from 60-90 one maybe two body parts a day.

Just curious and the whole internet is full of clueless idiots with bs advice anymore.
 
2lbs a month is a lot. That’s 24lbs a year

If you can put on 24lbs of muscle tissue on a year you’re doing something incredibly well.

Personally I don’t like doing those crazy diets where I’m eating in a massive surplus and putting on fat, then crash dieting and losing fat and tissue and crashing my metabolism.

I like the longer, slower method where I eat or diet within a 300-500 calorie surplus/deficit.

Now it’s different for those that only have X weeks of offfseason to put on as much tissue as possible before their next prep. In that case I’d imagine they push the surplus much harder

But if you’re bulking and just putting on enormous amounts of fat then you’re doing something wrong and it will just make your next cut that much more shitty.

Or conversely—if you crash diet and lose a bunch of tissue then you basically just wasted your bulk

I don’t really chase a certain number like x lbs a week, but I like to see the scale increase on a week to week basis, along with visual changes in the mirror, and ideally little to no fat gain
 
I like the old school way of getting big as shit. 40-50 pounds typically, from clean food and a couple cheat meals a week, if you can push past that without cals and stomach being a problem keep pushing but that’s usually where I tap out

Also depends where my breathing becomes a problem, even with a cpap if I have to push the airflow higher and higher I know I’m getting too heavy

I’m sorry. I meant overall bulk. Mix of fat and muscle. I tried for decades eating right. But just never ever had an appetite. So need to force feed. A bulk including fat. Eat every 3-4 hours. Then cut.

Just know I can gain or lose 40lbs in a month. Can’t be too healthy. But this last bulk was oddly successful. Never gained so much. Had a gut and all from bulk. Was not enjoyable. But post cut phase def gained more muscle than if I just ate normal.

I’d b elated if I could gain two of muscle a month.

Same. I started wondering how overweight people get through daily tasks. I tapped out after about 40. Looked big in a shirt. But was prob 90% fat bloat. But after cut felt so much better.

My fam was like u make noises doin everything. Gruntin and groaning breathin heavy.
