What fat sources do you use when adding them to your diet?

I see alot of guys adding almonds and EVOO to their diet in shakes and meals to add fats , I was wondering what and why some guys use what they use.

I've seen some say that using nuts to much is a bad idea , other use peanut butter exclusivly , other only EVOO.

I know that their are differant fats and they serve differant purposes , I ws just looking for a bit more indepth disscussion on what everybody use and why

All this was brought on by a coworker that wants to try the Palumbo diet but doesn't like eggs , so was gonna use chicken and some sort of fat and asked if I thought coconut oil would be good?
 
EFAs = Essential Fatty Acids...healthy fats. This is nutrition 101.
 
I use peanut butter and olive oil mostly.
also fat from whole eggs as well.
 
Natural peanut butter or almond butter(not that often-stuff is expensive!), some fish/evening primrose oil and olive oil
 
EVOO and almond butter are my favorites. Right now I use raw almonds because almond butter tastes too good and I can't be trusted with a jar of it this close to a competition.

A bowl of oats with splenda and a tbsp or two of almond butter is like candy.

Guys, google coconut oil... it's almost all I use now. Believe me, I really hate supplements/foods/etc touted as the "miracle" or "cure-all"... but this stuff really is fantastic.

Coconut oil is good stuff! Used to much in one meal (2 T), and I was on the toilet the rest of the day though lol...
 
Coconut is great. Powerful source of energy that really helps when you're leaning out and pre-training. Should not be used alone, you need other omega fatty acids as well.
 
Lots and lots of fish oil....Natty PB too, highlight of my day...pretty sad huh?

no 2 fats are the same!!!!!

omega amounts vary oil to oil

good base oils are coconut, avo, mac, evoo

good secondary fats are peanut butter, almond butter, fish oils
primrose, flax....which i find works well pre workout

then of course your main fats, red meat, dark fish, whole egg, raw nuts

Variety- yes

Although I take a couple TBSP's a day from coconut oil, the rest come from GFB, whole eggs, and fish oil caps. Yes, if your diet was say ALL saturated, or ALL monounsaturated, etc, that would cause a problem.
 
I agree with the guys above, my daily fats (there is a lot because I don't like a lot of carbs whether on or offseason) are the following:

Whole free range eggs (up to 18 a day now, many raw)
Grass fed beef
Wild Salmon
1st Cold press olive oil (in shakes)
expellar pressed coconut oil (cook eggs in this)
natural peanutbutter
grass fed raw butter
full fat dairy products - full fat yogurt, raw milk, cottage cheese, raw cheddar/swiss
nuts - walnuts, cashews (actually not a nut! shelby brought that forward)

my personal favorite and fat of choice - 1/2 tbsp of fermented cod liver oil/high vitamin butter oil combo daily

I agree and will add that I almost consider peanut Butter and Almond oil hybrids because they are not exclusively fat, they do contain some carbs and incomplete protein.

I'd add some avocado oil to that list cuz I love cooking w/ it and I'd say those are all great additions to any diet...

Tenny is real close to mine....avocado oil, MAc nut, and GRASS-FED BUTTER baby!!
