What is WMS supposed to taste like?

Just got my hands on some waxy maize starch and started using it with my PWO shake, im not too sure if its out of date or what but it tastes foul, kind of savoury and textured like flour, I was assuming it would be sweet like dextrose or sugar.

If this is how it should taste, what do you mix it with to take off the edge?

I just mix mine with water, True Protein brand.
Doesn't taste great, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Its from a bulk supplier here in the uk, im mixing it with 15g unflavored BCAAs which probably makes it taste even worse!!!

It is supposed to taste like that. Powdery, almost like flour in taste and texture. You could mix some flavored BCAA's with it and it might make it taste better. I wouldn't be mixing it with protein though. That will screw up the weight of the carb and defeats the purpose of why you are using it. Sometimes you just have to deal with the taste. Plug your nose if you can't handle it and down it. I know everybody wishes everything would taste like chocolate quick, but what is more important, something that tastes good or getting better as a bodybuilder and growing new muscle tissue.

pretty much like chalk...but its not unbearable....mix it with some sugar free juice like crystal lite...

Thanks fellas, there arent any flavored versions over here so Ill just have to add some sugar free juice, it was just a bit of a shock to the senses expecting it to taste sweet and then finding out it tastes like arse (not like id know)

I'm using some that is fruit punch flavored,,,not bad when mixed. If you just stick a finger and and eat some though,, it tastes fairly bitter.

Sampson,where do you live??Can't you get hold of Vitargo cgl by nutrex reseach??Comes in different flavours and tastes really nice(or at least the orange one does.I think it's orange flavour that I've got.LOL).

Yes they have vitagro at my gym but I thought that it had a different kind of carb from a barley source??? not too sure???

Vitargo switched from maize to barley. I'm sure it works just as well though since they are funding studies, need performance from the product to keep the good name it has, etc.

I add 3 tablespoons of LBAs to my waxy PWO shake. I love the super hydration effects of the glycerol and it sweetens the bland waxy taste

Yes sir thats what I do. Tastes good. Just tastes like whatever flavor you use plus a minor chalky taste toward the tail end.

Didn't know that.Thanks for pointing it out,but I think the tub that I've got must be made with wms as that's what is written on the tub that I've got.
