Why dont the judges like Markus Ruhl?

Just curious, I know in the past he hasnt been as sharp as he's needed to be, but damn, it doesn't get any freakier than Ruhl. And this NY pro, my God, he was incredible. Are they starting to shy away from his look and go more towards guys like Dexter? What do you guys think the future is going to be for the sport, you see any pattern coming with the way the judging is going to lean? Also, I feel the sub 202 class is going to give the sport much more publicity and create a new standard on conditioning. Any you guys feel the same? Lets hear it!!

I totally agree.. He has had some questionable placings over the years. He looked pretty damn good this weekend. I saw him training a while back at golds in vegas and it was a joke to see him standing next to me.

It seems that Ruhl has gotten a raw deal over the years.. I agree he has not been at his best at times, but the guy should have placed alot higher than he has. Especially in the NY Pro... He looked amazing!

I thought he looked terrific at the NY pro!

He came in terrific condition and had huge size to go with it. Awesome.

I thought Evan looked great too. I was also impressed with Yamagishi...he looks really good to me.

I would have placed Dave Henry over Kevin English... I also liked Dugdale. Dougdale was in great shape....his glutes hams and calves looked incredible.

Ruhl and DJ both looked better in person than they do in the pics. You get a good look when they walk through the audience and I liked the way DJ looked.Ruhl also.

I think Darren Charles gets no love. Granted he not massive, but is always shredded and has nice muscle bellies and is entertaining.

Ruhl has done more with what he has than most anyone but he is what he is. The prize doesn't go to the one who works the hardest or wants it the most.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some will say his body type is not attractive, but I love it. I don't like guys who look like Darren Charles, IMHO he is very blocky and at the same time small in caparison to others. But that is why I love BB, each us see a body through our own eyes.

I think it was judged fairly for the most part, considering Ive only seen pics of the top 4-5 guys. I like Ruhl as well. No matter how big and freaky he is, he'll never fill out the area where his triceps should be.

WE talked about this on the other board....and I hate to say this because i hear he is a great guy....so let me clarify this....this is about his physique.

This is why i think he got marked down by the judges.

He has always injected his biceps, his shoulders (massively) and his lats (in various pictures you can always see bruises and bumps on his lats in lat spread and other pictures)

I like the freak factor just like anyone else but sometimes hes just not that pleasing to the eye. When you put him next to a guy like Heath or even Evan, he starts looking funky in certain poses and you can really tell something isnt right about certain muscle groups. In the end, bodybuilding SHOULD be about what looks pleasing to the eye and what flows about a well put together physique. Crappy thing for MR is that he is just never going to be able to put together a package that has all of the areas covered that the judges are looking for.

MY guess is that there is a whole lot of scar tissue buildup in that area. There must be a big knot there that stays hard all the time. Hopefully that will go away once he stops injecting in that area. I had a mass like that once, much much smaller though. Took about 1 year for it to go away completely, maybe more.

Yes, I could see why they went with Evan C., but Ruhl still looked great and came ready for the show!

I still like Henry's physique better than English. But, at least I would have had Henry above Dugdale, but I guess that is how it goes...more fuel to the fire for Henry now!

DOGG I see your point and to each his own but for me that is WAY unnatuarl looking. To be frank it looks bad. So I can see why he doesnt place. Being Freaky and lokoing good is one thing but being freaky just to be freaky is another.

i honestly think the judges are trying to get away from the mass monsters... after years and years of ronny and jay playing the size game maybe they are just sick of that look.. look at dex and silvo right.. they are about as far from mass monsters are you get but always seem to place well (silvo placing 4th this weekend when he was clearly off) i guess we will see.. fortunately that gives me hope that heath will some day be Mr O he is easily my favorite bber hehe
