Hey folks,

just wanted to ask if drinking wine is bad while bulking not on any juice yet
on my break. I drank 4 glasses of wine today wanted know if it would affect my diet.

Remember that alcohol, depending on which kind you drink (vodka), can put water weight on you. Doesnt happen all the time or to all people but it does, when you're on a cycle. One time I was at a New Years party or maybe someone B-day party, drank a bunch of-probably vodka, didnt piss a dime, next day I woke up, I couldnt get my rings off. My hands were swollen, I was swollen, I was up 10lbs of water lol And that stayed on for a while before I lost that water. Doesnt happen to me with beer, gin, etc, only with Vodka.

red wine has some good anti oxidant effects and can also help to lower blood pressure and cholesterol, I dont think that consuming 2 glasses a day would hurt you...

I Agree

KM2000 is right. Now don't sit and drink to get drunk, but a glass or two of wine a day is prefectly fine. At the same time remember that you will be affected by it differently if you are on aas, so try to take it easy and no issues will arise. :D

Vino, I love Vino too much. What DiverT said.

Dido

I agree with Km
At 6-8oz per day it is cardio-protective.

I agree with the majority here. I actually use a bit of port while in contest diet at the end of my evening meal. Just 30mls each day. Helps me sleep and is actually good for you:D This is while on. But I limit my intake to only that while on. I have had no probs with it.

Pinot Noir has the most anti-oxidents!:)

your quite right here, just to add that for this purpose you need to get your wine form an organic souce made in the traditional way, with skins included in the process, here is an artical I recently watched this program on TV here in Boozy UK.:)

Scientists may have discovered the reason why red wine appears to protect the heart.
Numerous studies have suggested that moderate alcohol drinking helps to reduce the likelihood of heart disease.

The so-called "Mediterranean diet", which includes a larger intake of wine, has been credited with lower rates of heart disease in those countries, despite a higher intake of saturated fats.

However, there is no clear evidence that red wine is any better than any other alcoholic drink.

But a team of scientists from Barts and the London School of Medicine, and the Queen Mary University in London, may have found a mechanism which points to the benefits of red wine.

They say it appears to interfere with the production of a body chemical which is vital to the process which clogs up arteries and increases the risk of a heart attack.

Wines tested

That chemical, a protein called endothelin-1 (ET-1), has already been shown to be involved in the formation of early signs of artery disease, such as the formation of fatty streaks on the walls of arteries.

Chemicals which work against it have been shown to reduce the rate of heart attacks in people who have heart disease.

The London team tested extracts from 23 red wines, four white wines, a rosé wine and one red non-alcoholic grape juice sample, after finding that certain chemicals - called polyphenols - from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes decreased the manufacture of ET-1 in bovine artery wall cells.

They found that, in the red wines, the amount they inhibited ET-1 ran parallel with the amount of these polyphenols they contained.

The white and rosé wines had no similar effect.

Cabernet the best

Dr Roger Corder, from the William Harvey Research Institute at St Barts, said: "What we are proposing is the mechanism that could explain why red wine is a better alcoholic beverage to consume than others.

"If you consume one glass of red wine and you have a good absorption of the active principle, that would be more than adequate."

He said that Cabernet Sauvignon-derived wines seemed to have the most impact

4 glasses IMO is too many,,,you could have a few ounces each night w/dinner.

good read bro and thanks,

so the organic wine made olf fashion style, is it available at the local liquore store or is there somewhere special you have to get it? will it be labeled so you can see it is made with the skins? forgive my ignorance here I am not much a wine drinker myself, but interested in this very much...

I am sorry I do not know how to tell either, by the tradtional methods It means that the skins and the pips and thrown in too, it is left longer to breakdown, and this some how leaves in more antioxidants.

I wish I could be more helpful, I did near on the oscars night that the celebs in their wisdom drink a few glasses of red the night before the awards to release gently the excess water in their bodies, red wine is also mildly diueretic, which could pose some use to a competing bodybuilder I suppose.:)
