would someone remind me of why i am getting up early to do cardio?

if it makes you feel better i sometimes get up at 5:30am and train legs :cool:
 
I think trainers are kidding themselves with AM cardio on an empty stomach.

Seriously it doesnt get any easier than calories-in verses calories-out.

Maybe you can manipulate hormones to a degree if your natural but if one eats exactly the same thing and does cardio AM or PM I doubt there will be a significant difference over time. Its one of those old school gym myths that just wont go away IMHO.

motivation

Judging from the title, I was hoping this thread may have some potential. I was looking for ideas to motivate my ass out of bed a little easier at 5am.
Anyways I will pipe in on this one; I do my cardio in the morning on an empty stomach primarily because it is the only time availabel. However I do believe the sooner you rev the motor the better. I believe the absence of carbs may influence the body to burn more lipids, but at the same time there is plenty of glyc in my liver morning evening doesn't matter.
Anyways for this contest prep the wife and I bought a stationary bike. No more 5am trips to the gym. I have been dong 30min in mornings and evenings.
seems to be working better than 60min in the morning.
My point? if you don't have a peice of cardio equip at home, go buy one. Well worth the investment

AM cardio will burn more lipids once liver is depleted sure but it still comes back to calorie in/calorie out as those lipids Im sure you know will go back on if diet isnt hypo.

but dont you think body types make a difference? im endomorph. its tough to lose fat, wouldnt cardio help even with a strict diet?
 
It isn't easy for sure, especially when it looks like midnight at 5am. One thing I notice if I walk for an hour in the morning and think about my goals and envision I have attained them, my whole day I have a shit load of energy. Again, I have just started getting back into the habit, but I do it at 6:30 hehe, so maybe that extra hour and a half is all you need!
 
oh i am just complaining about getting old here guys.... getting out of bed and having the old body hurt for a while and then doing cardio. Plus as the day goes on i lose motivation and seem to get distracted be it work or whatever.

haha i feel your pain I to am getting up while the birds sing and sitting on a bike grabbing what feels like mounds of chub going why do I do this, fat is happy and in bed right now, and I do this. Wish I could also say that dont need cardio, but I grab these lovely areas that they dont give u points for when u stand on stage with a little piece of clothing. I need a high powered shop vac, a knife and a lot of pain killers......

Another advantage to AM cardio is other than the metabolic boost..it helps stimulate the appetite over the course of the day for those that can't eat enough...this is in relation to off season cardio for the benefits stated above.
