that Western Union gets banged quite a few million every couple years by the gioverment for facilitating money laundering and fraud. So in order to play the game everyone knows they play, they have to have in place anti fraud and anti money laundering programs. And guess what, they make a ton of money off guys who use aliases. They don't care about you, they will take your money and not lift a finger to help you retrieve it. It's easy money. E-golds the same way.
Now if it is under $1000, and you are an average guy who does 4 - 10K of purchases from Western Union a year, consider using your real information. You see they don't verify it! There is no easy way of proving that the information is correct. Also, even in a blocked payment situation, there is absolutely no way of proving what the funds were for as it isn't specified on the form.
But in the event there is a problem with your payment, you will be able to easily retrieve it or redirect it IF YOU USED YOUR REAL INFORMATION.
Customers historically, do not have problems even when a sources records are seized. And again, there is no way that I would know whether the information on a less than $1000 Western Union payment form or transaction was real because they never verified identification!
Use the little ethnic shop that sends western union and avoid online and larger agents.
We have made the use of an alias the standard and people are losing money, while Western Union is making money and there doesn't appear to be any strong evidence supporting the use of an alias when thousands and thousands of Western Union payments are transmitted worldwide daily for every concievable product or service.
