Bands & push-ups
Depends on the show for me. The last show I competed in had a weight room to use, so I used dumbbells. The show I did a week prior to that had nothing provided, so I used bands and push-ups. Mostly focusing on side laterals, curls, tricep extensions, rowing movements (having someone told the end of a towel to provide resistance while you bend forward and row with it can be effective for this), and push-ups. Do not pump your thighs, you will lose definition if they pump up too much.
ya i would think zero leg work at all would be the general consensus.
thanks for your answer
and i guess if there is a day and night show you pump up both times?
i am helping someone with a show, i have been really ripped before, actually stay ripped all the time basically so that part was not a problem helping him do ,but i have never done a show itself so these little things i don't know about from experience like i do with the getting ripped part. i also don't know about those last few days before the show adjustments people do with water or sodium from actual experience. I have read tons on it over the years including whats on here so hopefully what i learned on that from threads here and other sources is good enough. i will keep it simple, with a small shitload type deal the day before. i would say my personal experience would take my buddy to the last week, but that last week is stuff i have never done ,so its experimental a bit. i think it will turn out right though.
Water/sodium/carb manipulation can end in disaster if you don't know what you're doing. Many trainers here will say that you don't even need to do it. If you are going to do it, I would enlist the help of somebody experienced before risking a big screw up. Just my opinion. At the very least, make sure to do a couple of trial runs a few weeks out from the show so that you know how your friend's body reacts to the various changes.
well i don't think its too crazy what we have planned. the show is 1 week away, he is drinking 10 litres of water a day right now and has been for a while now, I will start cutting that down next week bit by bit, until cutting water off sometimes friday, have some carbs on friday night possibly Saturday morning depending on what he looks like, then have a high carb, high fat, high sodium meal between the morning and evening show. during this last keep sodium level basically where they are right not, don't believe in cutting that drastically.
does this all sound good in everyones opinion? I am confident in what i am doing but opinions or critiques would be appreciated if someone sees something glaringly wrong with it
