Why is it that whenever some people see a photo of a guy in great shape, not huge but really looks good one of the first questions out of their mouths is "Juiced"? or I bet he is not natural. I hate to rain on your parade but there are some very genetically gifted individuals walking this earth that would blow all of you "JUICE MORONS" away and they do not spend half of their lives in the gym either. YES, they do exist and no they did not get their muscle out of the end of a needle. And if they did? What then? Does this make them less than an athlete in your eyes? Does this make all of their hard work and dedication to what they chose and believe in worthless? If you really want to know if they juice or not grow some nuts and go ask them yourselves!!! Rant over and feel free to add comments!! Good or bad, this is what an open forum is for, I do not take it personally, just get a bit miffed when I see comments about others that no one actually knows anything about.

EDIT: "Juice Morons" is directed at a few select individuals and not the majority here!

I am behind you on this one. What about us old guys who get HRT, does that make us not as good? You can take all the AAS in the world, but without certain genectics, diet and hard training year after year you won't get no where. I always will give props to a good physique, wether you take AAS or not. Plenty of guys on this site, I couldn't stand next too, and I respect them for that.

O'Fella I can tell from some of your replies, like the cycling guy one that these types of vitamin enhancement replies bug you and I agree. It's annoying as hell when someone see's a person who obviously has worked years on their physique and says "juiced/gear/lba's"!
In my opinion most of the ppl making comments like that are genuinely jealous and most likely licking the bbq sauce off their fingers before they type their posts on their keyboards.

I hear you OF. Unfortunately, even in the bodybuilding crowd, there are quite few people that seem to be misinformed as to what gear will, or will not do. Its bad enough when you hear it from the general public… "oh, I could look like that if I only took steroids." How many times have I seen a guy in the gym that looks great and I stopped to think, you know, the reason that guy looks fantastic is his body fat is very low and the muscle and cuts are just popping. He's not really huge, but he LOOKS huge because of that low BF level. Some people just have a genetic gift. Period. Some people have a lifestyle that keeps them at a very low % of body fat. But it is frustrating when you hear the hogwash about how good you look or how big you are depends on how much gear you take. A greyhound will never be a pitt bull, I don't care how much gear and peptides you pump it full of.

Here Here, I hear ya OF!

I think the stereo type is coming in around the time that our kids are getting fatter and lazier! Parents are working harder and longer hours! And as such they themselves have no time for a gym or anything fitness related. Because of this they see themselves in a rut, meaning "if I had as much time as that guy does i would look good too"..... Many others who have never even thought of working out simply have to feel better about themselves and for their own mistakes in life by putting someone else down. And so when they see a bodybuilder in great shape the first thing they do is say ""yeah, but he's using roids"... It makes them feel better about themselves being so out of shape. Parents let the PS3, XBOX and other such devices parent their children while they are at work. And when they get home they never push their children to get off those things and get outside and do something simply because they are in a mental rut at work or in their personal lives. So as long as the childis not bothering them who cares if he or she stays on those games all day and night. To the parent all they see is a opportunity to get some mnore rest or sleep time.

Then you have other people who really try and bust their butts in the gym BUT simply do not have the predipositioned genes to achieve a athlete look. It's not their fault it's their parents. BUT rather then give the guy or gal their due props it's much easier to make themselves also feel good by tearing down someone else.

Many of times it is a coping mechanism that people use (tearing down others) when they simply are not informed or have no intentions of informing themselves on how much effort it really takes to be a good athlete and the cost it takes to be in great shape. Give someone else a compliment and oneday someone may pay you a compliment too!

I think juice/gear and bodybuilding just are instantly connected with each other even though not ever bodybuilder uses it. The first time I competed I had several people ask me what I was on. I weighted in at 108 pounds and wasn't "on" anything. Some people automatically just assumed that the two going together. It's just ignorance that people think you have to be "on" something to reach this kind of conditioning.

Oldfella, I hear you brother. But let me offer this: Let them talk. If saying or thinking, "He/she HAS to be on juice" helps them to sleep at night, I say don't let it get you too ruffled. You've been in this game long enough to know what it takes and what will work and what won't. All the rest is just ignorance. I'm not saying that all these people are ignorant, just ignorant about this particular area.

I even do it myself sometimes. Every time I see a bicyclist on the news winning a race, steroids enter my mind. It's a reflex from all the hype that's pumped into our heads every day of our lives. And if an intelligent man who knows better can have that thought enter in, then how much more the masses of uninformed people?

It's kind of the muscular equivalent of breast implants. How many times have you seen a girl with nice breasts only to then have someone say to you, "Do you think they're real?" I always say something like, "Well, you're looking at them aren't you?" or "Why? Don't you see them?"

my boss makes comments anytime someone compliments me. a while back a saleman who had not seen me in a while said something like " man you must be killing it in the gym, you look huge" my boss heard him and said " all hell, he's just on steroids. anybody can get that big on juice". well first i have to shrug it off because i cant let him know i was on, but what i did say was i am in the gym before you wake up, and when you are drinking wine and eating ice cream i am in the gym again ( i was prepping for a show). its normally some fat, out of shape ignorant guy who makes such comments to which i will sometimes fire back and say, whatever that guy is on you should ask him and get some because you look like 60lbs of shit in a 30lb bag! lol!

SOme interesting replys here. Good stuff! Ouch, I don't let it get to me that bad, but it is annoying to hear from time to time. I mean some of these gifted individuals bust their asses to look the way they do. SOme of them do not have to work that hard. We who choose an enhanced path to muscle work even harder than the gifted few, should we get any less accolades for our efforts? In the end it all comes down to choices and what we do after our choice is made. Enhanced or not what is wrong with just paying a guy or gal a nice compliment without the "juice syndrome" creeping in? I understand about all the hype and hystreria surrounding AAS and it is about to get worse with the Olympics about to fire up. The guy in the thread PH put up looks awesome, plain and simple. I can honestly say my first thought was what I just said, I didn't even think about AAS. And Ouch I too do the same as you said, I question a lot of what I see performance wise to AAS use or not. I just do it in silence and not in an open forum.

Happy training everyone and thanks for putting up with a grumpy old man!!

Oldfella… if you went out tomorrow and bought a trendy sport car with ALL the fixes…you would hear the same snickers as you would with large arms. You can beet the either way. In terms of their logic you are going through a midlife crisis and compensating for other parts of your life in odd ways. You and I often start quoting one liners from Pumping Iron and if you watch that movie, the guys are constantly bombarded with comments and none more so than then they are on stage with the microphones in the audience. What they say is stupid at best but is just a normal person’s reaction to the physical perfection he could never achieve. I recently got into an altercation with a small thinking man who made a comment like “If I could use steroids all the time I could look like you. To which I replied honestly…If you had all the best steroids and the key to the front door of the best gym and training partner available today…you still couldn’t hold my jockstrap. I patted his gut and said just keep dreaming and I will keep working
What about us…What about the way we see arms of men or women thicker than ours and start in on him about to much GH usage of site injections far to obvious to give him a good placing. It this attitude any different? And of course Oldfella, I do not consider you part of that pack
You have an extremely good point hear and it is a great discussion topic. One that will have a large and long lasting effect

I can remember this running back that played ball at the college I attended. He walked around all of the time looking like he was about 8% bodyfat or less, could see striations everywhere. His diet was terrible and the guys on the team would joke around about how he ate candybars all of the time. The guy was about 5' 10" and weighed around 225 lbs solid. His arms were huge with a giant peak on them, his physique was great and he barely lifted. Just how great an influence genes have was confirmed on parent's weekend when his father came to town. I looked out the dorm window and saw his dad walking across the green sporting arms that were even more developed than his son's. I thought about how my dad is built, 6 foot tall 175 lbs and skinny, and I knew I was in for a battle if I ever wanted to look like the running back.

i am 37 and have been training for over 20 yrs. overall, probably 15 yrs of hitting it hard. the last couple of yrs. i've slacked for a couple months here and there, so there have been a few times when i've gone back to the gym after 2 wks to a month of not lifting, and as you all know, after yrs of working out, our bodies bounce back very quickly. well, i hear all the time, "oh man, you must be taking a lot of shit, cause you dont even work out hard and look at you, how can you be that big so fast?". it's amazing how people conviently forget the friggin hours, days, weeks, yrs, decades, i've put in to this. pisses the shit out of me sometimes. then other times i say, "no, you are right, i've only worked out a couple times and look at me. wow, something must be f'd up with your genetics." lol
