Its embarasing for me to even write this,but for those of you that dont know what it is,its basicly a tear/crack in your rectum lining,hurts like a motherfucker.....and no im not gay,was just constipated and thats what caused it i guess.went to the doctor and he gave me this cortisone cream(Analpram),and said if it doesnt heal in 3-weeks then the ydo a procedure to "buzz" that crack,i cant even imagine the pain involved,he said its not even painfull as the fissure itself,and you go to work the next day.....any suggestions for those of you that know about it?:confused:
 
I had surgery for this years ago....hemorrhoid removal and fissurectomy.....healing was painful, not gonna lie
 
The procedure will be much less painful than what you are currently experiencing. The topical treatment is unlikely to be permanently effective if you have recurrent bouts of constipation (which will only exacerbate the fissure over time), so eventually you will likely require surgical excision and repair. Regardless, I would recommend trying to adjust your diet so you reduce your bouts of constipation/hard stools.
 
fasting to allow time for it to heal with the cream, then eat more soluble fibre in your diet like psylium husks, oats, etc nothing too much like bran or all bran.

I would suggest doing maybe a 3 or 4 day fast using only protein shake, psylium husks and essential fats and some vitamin tabs like 3 or 4 times daily and then 15 hrs without food prior to bed and sleep, and drinking only water. Boring as hell but it should allow the area to heal and soften any stool.

Normal activity can resume after 24 hours. After a week, you should feel completely back to normal (i.e., pre-fissure normal).

I've had it done.
Just remember that it is gonna swell down there after the operation.
Also stay on liquids for a few days after.
I didn't and suffered unmercifully on the next bowl movement .
It was so swollen I could hardy pass anything .
I literally sat there and cried.
It was like trying to pass a mf'ing pine cone the size of a watermelon .
I thought I was gonna pass out .
I had sweat pouring down off me.
I know it sounds real funny , but it was terrible.
What ever goes in gonn havta come out .
 
What if i stay on protein shakes only for a few days,would it heal?(using the analpram cream too).
 
had a fistulotomy a couple years back due to my crohn's disease. recovery was a breeze, the hardest part is the suffering from it BEFORE sugery.....u will be MUCH more relieved post-surgery
 
did doc say anything about a laxative during healing? some kind of stool softener would lessen the pain and help keep the wound from reopening every time you have a bm.

No, it shouldn't be a nightmare. Ask for some pain meds and take what you feel is necessary. As long as you don't advance your diet to quickly (i.e., start eating harsh solids and other constipating foods before you are adequately healed), you will be fine.

It depends on the extent of the fistula. In most cases, the only curative approach is surgery. Given the pain you are experiencing, I think you are probably near that point. I don't think you need to go on a liquid diet per se, but you should probably avoid constipating and irritating foods.

chronic dehydration is the most common reason that people get this as well as lack of soluble fiber in diet. sitting down for long periods of time may also be a factor.

to prevent recurrence, and treat increase oat and other fibers. drink lots of water. dont strain when you "shat".

high protein diet increases water needs.

just eating protein shakes might actually make it works.

keep tissue hydrated, using cream or gel frequently (gross, but needs to be done at LEAST 3-4 times a day, and everytime after you have a "movement".)

you may want to restrict calories during initial phase of treatment, to decrease number of movements (and thus aggravation of tissue)

bodybuilders and steroid users are more able to recover and repair this particular issue, since the underlying etiology (as well as ability to repair tissue) are different than the "average" person with a fistula. Who usually has poor diet, poor hormone panel, often overweight, with poor recovery abilities and inability to make necessary dietary changes as well as poor treatment adherence.

In theory you are correct (bodybuilders tend to be "healthier"), but this group is much more apt to strain, etc. while lifting, which only exacerbates the healing of the fistula. In my experience once a fistula forms and causes the kind of pain that was mentioned, it is best managed surgically.
