Thanks for posting that. I started watching wrestling back in the late 60's, when matches were broadcast from the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Stayed a big fan up until the mid 90's, by then it was just to adult oriented, not something for the whole family. I started to get interested again recently, and was suprised at how many of the stars from back in the 80-90's have died.

Yes it is amazing how these guys have such a high mortality rate. But I see it this way. Most of these guys do steroids, but they dont live the life of a pro bodybuilder. From what I have seen and heard, these guys consume lots of alcohol, party and do recreational drugs including cocaine, and duh - they also actually HURT themselves while performing. Yes its all staged etc etc, but they take a serious beating. Most former wrestlers state that they were in pain pretty much all the time, and that just about everybody is on some form of pain medication.
So there you have it: a cocktail of drugs, alcohol, steroids and lots of pain medication. Add a pinch of fame and riches and the ensuing pressure to the mix and you have people who are in very bad shape physically and mentally.

Wow,
I'm surprised they didn't show a picture of him - maybe because it makes it less obvious that his obesity could of played a huge role.

it is tragic, and the laundry list just keeps growing. I agree OL and think it has little to do with roids, as opposed to the consumption of pharma/non-pharma and alcohol. I go back to the days of Dr.X and XX, The Crusher, Baron Von Raschke, Red Bastien etc. I stopped really taking an interest after the Rock bailed.
I worked at many events and was grateful to meet and party with many of the WWF and AWA guys and gals when they came into the Chicago area. They live/lived a life I personally wouldn't want any part of for the long term.

I am willing to bet that there isnt an insurance company around that is willing to issue life insurance on these guys. I bet some other sports are hard to insure too.
