Any (current) ARMY Rangers, Special Forces guys here? Need Advice

well my best friend was ranger. and very few get exepted to the school. and evenless finish. i think first you have to be 101 or 82 airborn

Getting to Ranger School and to one of the Batts is not that difficult for an enlisted 11B. If you plan on being an officer it is much harder to get in either Rangers or SF. For enlisted guys you can enlist with the option of 11B then to a Batt, or as an 18X, this will give you the opportunities to "get a shot" at those MOS's. You need to score well on your GT portion of your ASVAB and have solid fitness, e.g. run a lot. You should have no problem running 5 miles at at least a 7 minute pace, I think the standard may be 8 minute miles, however, you want to lead the pack or at least be in the middle. Max your push ups, max your sit ups, and do a lot of pull ups. There are a lot of other standards, you can just google them. You will ruck a lot, you may want to load up a back pack and start going on walks, load up at least 65 lbs, lol, start with 4 miles, then 6, 8, 12. At 12 miles you can use that distance to maintain your rucking fitness, e.g. do it once a week. Try for a 4 mile per hour pace minimum. Almost every standard, e.g. Air Assualt, EIB, etc., you have to ruck 12 miles in three hours or less. Good luck and have fun.

Damn...is it any wonder why we have the best of the best. God bless who serve...and take it up a notch to join the SF groups in all branches!
 
Appreciate the tips guys.

I have researched the route to getting to one of those groups but I was trying to get an inside look from an Operators perspective. I have some questions only a person currently serving in those units can assist me with.

Hey swing I am a former Airborne Ranger and Drillsergeant, was in from 1992-2002. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have, believe me I should be able to answer it, unless it is something very new, that I am not aware of, but I have several friends still in as well. let me know, you can pm as well if you want. thanks
 
be prepared to fight alot. Guys who find out you are elite love to challenge you. Be prepared to NEVER get any sleep during training. If your used to eating alot for bbing, be prepared for hunger pagns.
Be prepared, and learn to love going to the field.
Be prepared to kill people, not just bad people, but anyone you are told to kill.
Be prepared for shin splints.
Most importantly, if your going SF, or even black bag, be prepared to accept the fact you wont make it.
 
i say go for it and dont look back, the best officers and enlisted i had to the pleasure came from the batt, i like the mission of spec ops more than what the batt does, shoulda coulda woulda and i always will look back and wish i had stayed in a done it
