The rice can be cooked any number of ways in there. Oats and cream of rice can also be cooked in most rice cookers.
One common way I'll do it is adding my vegetables and seasonings straight to the pot.
If for example I'm having 200g raw rice for the day across 2 meals, I'll rinse the rice, add 200g rice to the pot, 200-300g water, 150g vegetables per meal (300g total), then seasonings. Cumin, turmeric, coriander, black pepper, lemon peel, parsley, bay leaves, rosemary, oregano, etc. A no-salt blend of spices like Adobo, or garam masala, or ras el hanout are fine and easy to use.
For a sweet option of oats or cream of rice, something like 100g of either, 100g berries, 1-5g stevia or sucralose, 5g cinnamon, 5g vanilla extract, 5g unsweetened cocoa powder, etc.
You can cook meat in with the rice as long as it is not large cuts. Something like shredded raw chicken or cut into small pieces (1cm cubes), ground beef or turkey, etc.
If I am cooking one meal that's 75g raw rice, 250g 99% lean turkey, 150g vegetables (50/50/50 bell peppers, spinach, green beans), I'd put them directly into the pot. Seasonings and salt before it cooks, or seasoning beforehand and salt after it's done.
If you need to use added fats, things like nut butters or avocado can be added after it's done cooking. Oils can be used in the pot or added afterwards.
