Bodybuilding over 40

Decent back day. Went to Powerhouse bc my wife wanted to tan after. What a disaster anymore. 3 kids in wife beaters and skippers too busy posing so I had to wait a bit for a pulldown. And just watching all these people who seek to be the star of their own reality show. It's crazy.

Legs at Muscle Inc yesterday. Vibe there is great. All business w some social to the side. Not the influencer focused social media gyms. Everyone was working. Grand opening tomorrow. Should get a little more crowded after that. I guess it has to unfortunately to pay the bills lol.

Working the high end wide leg press instead of adductor for a bit. Took a little adjusting but I like it. Felt adductors way more on the heavier set so I'll be starting w that next time. V squat was smooth and comfy. Easy to stay upright. Low back is touchy lately. No pain just big pumps as I'm 230 again. Maybe could've ground another rep on the heavy V squat but didn't want to risk my back. Very happy w it.

Check in today. 230.2. Leanest yet at this weight but very much fueled by sushi and desserts too lol.

Another really strong day. Newtech equipment is just smooth as butter and just seems to put me in positions where I feel things working better than any other machine. Crazy doing so many machines coming from relying on a barbell as a powerlifter for so long. But there seated lateral raise machine for example... I think I have strong shoulders and traps and easily lose the connection when doing lateral raises. I felt these better than any other lateral move before.

Food is still going down good. Hovering 228-230 which is good. I had a big gain in 2 weeks but think some was water. Strength is great. Back tomorrow and looking forward to some stiff leg dead's and seeing what I can do.

Awesome back day. Every Newtech machine I use is just amazing. I feel the target muscle spot on like the biomechanics are just right for each. The pulldown/high row hit my outer lat in a spot I literally never felt before. Pressed for time otherwise I would've added another set of 1 more row machine in a widowmaker fashion.

Stiff leg deads were awesome but want to back off the weight a little and raise my reps a touch before pushing to try to get them over 500 for reps. Sticking to my 1 main set each back day for them as it is progressing and I'm still recovering.

Ive been seeing someone in Doylestown so might be trying to get a session in with you at some point since not much further
 
Busy lately... spring break is over so I have work, teaching and the final month of grad school. Jammed with 3 big projects. Great training day yesterday and was supposed to do legs today. Normally don't like legs day after back but sometimes it's necessary with my schedule. But today was just feeling mentally tired and in need of some mindless down time to recharge.

Work tomorrow but then 4 straight off. Will do some school work, have a date night planned and going to see my friend compete.

Might see about pushing food up. Weight is still 228-230. We'll see how check in pics look. Second day in a row my BP has been < 125 systolic. Added 0.5mg arimidex twice a week and changed Losartan out for Telmisartan. I do notice some +1 ankle edema at the end of the day when I work. Want to keep an eye on it with the echo and my BP but I usually hold some water on GH and it isn't there in the morning or days I don't work.

Back felt great yesterday. Realized I live close or supinated pulldowns. I feel it way better than wide grip. I wasted years doing wide grip thinking it was "necessary" for a wide back. Tbar row machine has adjustable handles and I set them for about 45° of supination. Comfy on my wrists but better stretch and contraction. Was gonna go for 475 on deads. Last time I hit 455x9 and was feeling good and wanted 475x7+. Said fuck it and went 500 and a smooth as silk 5 reps.

Cardio today. Relaxing with the dogs. Rainy day nap. Work tomorrow then I'll hit legs Friday before our sushi date.

Some good training days lately. Backed off to 3 days a week not intentionally at first because I am just too busy and found recovery taking a hit. Weight is flat at 230 so a small food increase in part to off set small cardio increase for heart health. BP has been good on Telmisartan. < 120 systolic for a week. Dropped the Norvasc after some lower extremity edema which is a common calcium channel blocker side effect. Once is topped the med it went away.

Anyway, here's some videos from legs the other day and push today. Huge PR today hitting incl db 160x8. Proud of that. But won't keep it in rotation. Super hard to get them in place.



 
Met a fellow Fallujah Marine at the gym today to train back. Skipped rack pulls because I have to train legs tomorrow and it'll also be my 3rd training day in a row. Finishing 200g chicken, 400g rice, 10g evoo before heading home to do a ton of school work i procrastinated on.
