Bulking with a keto style diet?? Shelby?

Got a buddy of mine who has been running a keto style diet (following Shelby's book on low carb dieting) and has had great results with dropping some fat. He has been training steady for 1.5years now , no AAS usage yet plans on it when he slows gaining naturaly.

Currently 6'5" 220lbs about 10% BF (good abs showing) , down from a slopy 280lbs range. He has been running the Keto style diet for 9 months (following Shelby's book the last 3 months) now and the last few weeks the fat loss has slowed and the strength has all but stopped. He has been doing refeeds every Sunday , getting 500-600g carbs from oats , sweet potatos and fruit spread out for 3 meals.

He came to me asking about what to do to start adding some muscle , and was wondering if he could just up the amount of food in each meal he eats now , say just add 20-30% more protein and fat to the existing meals.

He realy like the way he feels on this eating plan , happy with the food and deosnt' realy want to change anything other that just start gaining muscle.

So my question is , is it feasable to gain muslce and stay lean while running a keto diet as long as the daily cal intake is above that of what you burn?? or should you just add carbs to a few of the meals like pre and post workout?
I advised him to just hire Shelby and try the carb cycling routine but he is scared he'll get fat agin if he eats carbs daily

So do any of you guys bulk up running high protein , mod fat , no carbs

I'm trying to convience him that hiring you would save him alot of headache and grief. From the reading he has done he seems to think that just adding a fair amout (100g) of carbs before and after training meals will do it. I'm not sure its as simple as that but if doesn't want to pay he can't expect anybody to give him solid advice , you get what you pay for right!!

It's hard to say without knowing all the details. I'm sure that some sort of carb cycling program would work well for him, but that's a pretty open ended answer.
Everyone is different... I have many clients and nobody uses the same diet.

He has several , the carb cycling is a two part deal and then the simple guid to very low carbs.

I don't remember where to get it exactly , their was a link once upon a time ago that took you to it.

I don't recommend a keo diet to bulk but if its a must then have him do a TKD where you do pre and post workout carbs.

I am curious as to why anyone would want to try to bulk on keto, if you are taking AAS I feel that is a real waste of money. It is like trying to race a car on the ice...the best traction is on dry pavement and sure you can grow (because of the AAS) but keto was not intended for someone looking to gain LBM, IMHO it is for someone looking to drop a lot of fat and save as much muscle as possible. Now I have taken AAS while doing a keto diet (CKD) and have lost 20lbs while people think I put on 15+ lbs, it is called recomp but its NOT a diet to bulk on. The AAS was to further help preserve any muscle loss and maybe add a few lbs. Note, "few" lbs.

Is the reason people want to do this diet to bulk because it is such a simple diet? eat fat and protein and no carbs and call it a night? I am trying to figure out why someone would do this.
 
read some vince gironda stuff... he has some weird shit, but it worked with a lot of people...
 
i was kinda thinking he might had meant just to get leaner while still slowly putting on muscle, not to bulk up fast as i know we need some carbs for better growth
