Call me Old school but I still think Arnold has one of the best bodies when you compare everyone. That pic of Flex wheller with Sergio was sick as well.

I know some people don't like hearing this, but I still believe that current bodybuilders have the older ones beat by a longshot

Though I believe that some of the golden era bodybuilders would have close to perfect physiques if their legs were larger.

His were alot better compared to most other guys of the era. I agree though, he had one of the best golden era physiques.

Id rather look like the good old golden era of bb rather then a chemical mess

nowadays its about who can become the biggest not only in muscle but the biggest drug user and the biggest gut and so on , the golden era is like a good old fasion car 1st of its kind and worth more then todays pieces of shit lol , Markus Ruhl may be big but hes one ugly motha fucka , todays BB is lost , and was heading in the wrong direction , it was for the amusement of nerds to say oh look how big that dude is oooooh ahhhhh , thats great for some fn fat ass in the crowd but what about the amount of chemical walking on stage

blows my mind how any BB can support this ?,, thats just not talent more like who can cram the most drugs in them selves to be 10lbs hevier the following yr one word for this "discouraging" and on top of all the abuse and hard labor the industry shits all over them , not worth the price OR is it , those who believe there the next big freak take a good look in the mirror and reconize whats about to become of you in this crazy ass sport of BB .

Look i love this sport but when i show a picture of markus Rulh or Art atwood to 99% of this world they crindge ,,, THAT TO ME ISNT BB ,, what once was a art of graceful yet powerful flowing physiques and GOD given genetic structure has now become a MAN made DRUG war and competition.

just what i think , we all have our views.

Whoa calm down there, Vander

I can't really say the same, I'm just a fan of the freaks. Sure guys back then looked awesome, but I'd just rather see the biggest, freakiest guy on stage with the shredded paper thin skin. Take this for example, Ronnie and Dorian are IMO the greatest bodybuilders that ever lived. I KNOW those physiques are not achievable for me, but I believe that's one reason why they attract me so much. When I see, for instance, Zane's physique, I just think, "Looks very good, but too achievable". Note, I'm NOT sayin that I look as good or better than Frank Zane. I dunno how healthy guys like I mentioned are, and to be honest with you it really doesn't effect me a whole lot. If they're unhealthy, then they're unhealthy. That doesn't mean that I want to pump my body full of the dosages they're using in some doomed-to-fail plan to become as big as them. I doubt I'll ever have an impact on the sport of bodybuilding and I understand that teh general public thinks that the curretn state of the sport is disgusting, but that's not my opinion so I really don't care if it goes mainstream or not :-D

remember that most of mainstream america will never understand us irregardless if we look like arnold or ronnie.. for god sake they thought that marky mark was huge.. we need to stop being concerned about what they think.. bodybuilding was not excepted when the mr olympia winner was in the low 200's back in the 60- 80's.. mainstream america will never buy a ticket to a top show.. hell if they wanted streamline physiques all they would have to do is attend natural shows.. they are not doing that either.. so lets stop caring what mainstream america thinks .. it really has never done us any good.. like usmuscle said.. those that buy the tickets buy to see the freaks.. they want to see ruhl stomp onstage and "wow" the crap out of them.. seeing darrem posing to "wind beneath my wings" is not very exciting.. that being said, i remember when haney won the mr o weighing 240's and some of the bodybuilding "golden agers" were crying that he waas too much and that he was ruining the sport.. the same cry goes up with every generation.. i have always said.. if the sport offends anyone in any way then support the natural or drug tested show.. they may not be "natural" per sae but, they are much more stream lined and could use the support.. there is more than one federation to support.. personally, ill support the the freaks.. personally, sergio was my favorite.. great legs, awesome mass..

the golden era wasnt natural by any means just kept it a sport of talent and rivalry between genetic freaks rather then chemical freaks .

Yes I have seen it many times. A guy with shit or just bad genetics makes up for it with massive dosages, massive quantitys of drugs. Do not get me wrong BB is always going to have drugs in it. Face it, it is a cult sport. Hell have the non BB freinds of mine have no idea who Ron Coleman or Dexter Jackson etc... are. Anyways I believe in the rule of if you dont have the genitics and your not trying to be a professional theres just no reason to go ballistic with the drug use. Im saying to each his own but damn in the end is it really worth the damage???? Im sure a few people like Tom Prince etc...dont think it was worth it. Then again if someone wants to do this than that is there own buisness. I just can not see how BB can be really that lucrative. Im sure there are a few making good money but not many. My old boss lived with a pro BB when he was competing. Maybe Phil Hernon would know him. His name was Phill Williams. Anyway my boss said he lived like a damn bum. He was a good BB but lived a crummy lifestyle in my opinion. He never had any money to even go out to a movie etc...I know he was a nobody but many pros are not making money on this. The big supplement companys are the serious profit makers. Anyway, I still like the physiques of old but damn the look of freaky dudes like our very own Phil Hernon make you want kick some ass. We just need to keep it in perspective.
