Anyone have any information on collefe football lifting programs...my cousin is an Alabama football committment (unfortunately--I'm an Auburn Fan)...and he has a program they gave him but he'd like to incorporate some other programs if possible..
HE needs to do what they gave him and get strong at those lifts. The reason I say this is because once he reports it's all over for him. Actually they will test him on his basic lifts like bench, squat, deadlift, and power clean and when they test him they will expect hime to reach the mark that they set for him and if he doesn't he will run till he pukes. This I know as they did it to us in college. I'm curious to see how he likes it at Alabama, as I know they have or had an extensive "supplement" program. I was visiting a buddy years ago down there and I believe it was Patrick Hape there TE that was from my buddies home town and he was back for the summer. First time I ever saw suspension. It was sent home with him from the strength coach I was told
Thanks for the feedback...I'll see what he says..I'm sure he'll love it he's a die hard Alabama fan( until they start practicing )..I tried to sway him to go to Auburn but it didn't work..I'll try and see what they've got going on..
if your buddy wants to wow the coaching staff then have a good 40 and vertical test. they know they can get you stronger but they will love the athleticism thats a lot of times not coachable. you cant teach a 4.3 or a 40inch vert. get that squat(deep!) bench and clean as strong as possible because this can help increase your 40 and vertical. i hate most american football program. the twice per week training did nothing but overtrain me and got me nowhere. especially with all the sprinting i was severly overtrained. i would rather DC it and add some cleans somewhere in the mix-maybe at the beginning of leg day alternated with hang snatch or something like that for 3 heavy sets of 3 reps. just an idea.
it would help to know his overall program to add on to or improve, a fair amount of colleges are doin some sort of Westside template with some olympic lifting and strongman training
