Gentlemen and Ladies,

If you're like me, you looked around the pic forum a lot when you first joined the board and hardly go there now, unless...

I just posted a pic there ("Well its about time, eh?... Randy's / Homonunculus' pics"), and I'm looking for critique, so I can get better. Check the pic for more info.

Thanks for the responses, guys.

When in grad school, I simply could not afford to eat like I needed to to gain weight, financially and b/c it makes me so damn sleepy. (I was working 100hr / week or more - ridiculous.) So, I played with different diet strategies, mainly of the low carb variety, and learned a lot about my body and how to stay lean. I managed to stay around 6-8% for 3 years, but didn't gain much muscle at all.

So, getting lean has never been a problem. Its all just a matter of how much you're willing to suffer, which is really the essence of bodybuilding in my opinion - mind over matter.

So, as far as placing, I didn't even make the cut (got 8th, I think), but this was a show with Mike Ergas, Patrick Matsuda, the guy who is on "Team Flex" who's father is a martial arts expert / actor (asian-american guy, but damn, I can't remember his name), and some other big dogs. I was happy just not to embarrass myself. It was a state level NPC NQ, so I'm sure you can figure out which one. 8^)

No, I wasn't too surprised. I was competing somewhere around 191 or so, against guys who were 3-5 inches shorter and weighed 197.5 and were as well condition. If you can figure out the show, you'll know why. Some say its the toughest NPC NQ there is. I did get 2nd at another show the weekend after, though. It was my third show of the season, so it was nice to at least get a damn trophy!!! 8^)

Kiwi, I hear what you're saying r.e. smarts ( ) - I just I could explain to someone how to have desire and will. That's really what it all comes down to, once you know the basics. If it were as easy as explaining it, Duchaine, Patrick Arnold, Bill Roberts, Will Brink and half the guys who write for many muscle mags, etc. would be monsters... LOL Put smarts with desire and you've got a guy like Palumbo, who's taken DNA ready for the bodybuilding scrap pile and made himself into a monster. Gotta love him for that.
