just for curiosity to dieters : how many cheat meals /week/month you have when dieting ?

personnally I just got a big hypo while sleeping and to wake up to eat a cup of oatmeals and a few chocolate cakes til I stopped sweating and felt a it better

I hate when it happens to me cause excpeted that, I never have cheat meals when dieting or it makes me feel like it fucks up my whole diet

I don't know what happened with that hypo problem in night his is the 2nd time it happens to me and the sugar craves is uncontrollable, so is the sweating !!

ever had that problem ?
how much you cheat ? be honest guys :D

Never felt the need. I'm not saying that I don't eat out a little while dieting, however it is basically what i would have had at home. IE: Steak and Potato at Outback. Or Chicken and Rice from Chipotle. I think this is a much better route to go then having chocolate cake or something.

But the chocolate cake is soooo good tho :D

I cheat quite a bit when dieting...I am 4 weeks out right now and I am just starting to not cheat on the weekends...up until then I was eating pretty much whatever I wanted on the weekends....Now I am very strict but my body needs cheat meals or I will flatten out quick, I have a very fast metabolism, you have so much size though that you can afford to get a little flat then carb up...Personally no matter what your body type I think cheat meals or cheat snacks are good for dieting...

That is not true and you know it. Cheat meals aren't NEEDED at all. EVERYTHING in a prep should be controlled and calculated. "Cheat meals" are nothing more than a break from the routine. Now, if you are using planned high carb or high fat days or shitload days that are planned and calculated, that is a different story.

Saying you are very strict and later in the sentence saying that you eat whatever you want on the weekends is a huge contradiction.

I totally agree with that
and sometimes people add high fat days just to cheat ...

I see cheat meals as a solution whenever you fell you won't be able to hold until competition .. but again when it comes to compete you have to be prepared to what it takes ..
personnaly I never cheat but I had to this night, I had one of the worst hypo I ever had without reasons !!! and it was while I was sleeping which is odd

when thinking of cheating while dieting, just don't forget that the guy on stage close to you hasn't

for those who flattens out,,then the interest is to include high carb days

but I still don't understand what happened to me last night ... as I'm on exam tommrow I think stress may have have played a big role on insulin level ...

I can cheat on one meal per week, usually on a Saturday and still continue to lose fat at a really consistent rate. I just eat what ever I crave most, not exactly in terms of food, but carbs or fat. I try not to mix the both too much, for example a steak dinner, OR a pasta meal. I will try to avoid huge unhealthy meals like some double whopper meal or a small pizza. There is really no science behind what im doing just it’s just what works for me. You have to have some type of mental comfort and stability to keep your diets a little fun. I don't hate dieting I enjoy food a lot more when im restricted on what I can eat.

i use cheat meals when dieting, ask mainevent. they work and they are needed

I agree 100%. There is no need to not use cheat meals when dieting.
I may eliminate them 4 wks out but again there are many variables.
There are many competitors who cheat up to the contest.
I remember Cory Everson ate Snicker Milky Way and 3M bars all the way up to the day of the show. 3-4 a day.

I agree Skip.

That is the only time I have ever "cheated" on a diet. Around the 6-8 week mark I have one big "cheat" meal usually a big steak, vegtables, sweet potatoe, and a dessert at Outback or some steakhouse and then its right back on. It is nice, takes the stress off your diet and to me just helps keep my metablolism going...

how is it any different than having a day to eat in between 2 shows in 3 weeks??

after the atlantic states, i must of had 8000-10000 cals that sunday. and here i am 10 days later in better condition and lighter.

fact is most competitors look there best a day or 2 AFTER the show, why? cause they ate some shit. cheat meals make a huge difference

Absolutely true and that is why I eat a shitload meal late friday night before my show and maybe something out of the ordniary carb up diet to fill me out, but it is tricky and people can mess it up really easy too...

I was referring to Edge's post on why competitors look better on sundays. If you read my earlier post I said the same thing you just did lol :D ....If they are planned they help keep your metabolism from grinding to a screeching halt while dieting through 16 or so weeks...

cheating can be done right.

This first thing is to know your body type and how it reacts to differents nutrients or even lack of. Are you an ectomorph or an endomorph. This gives you a foundation to start from. If you are going to cheat it should be planned. I don't feel that you need to cheat with shit foods either(processed of high cholest.). When I think of cheating I just think More quantity. I personally do not cheat much while dieting. My weekly regiment consist of depleting the first half of the week in which I am on point and very strict and then I load the 2nd half of the week. I load with clean foods but in high quantity. For fats i use natty Peanut butter and carbs are flavored rice cakes. I have just been trying to get to know my body and go by feel. I havn't been specific with totals until now. I am 3-4 weeks out. Now i'm counting and weighing everything. My problem is when I get an inch I take a mile. One cookie leads to diabetic coma for me. LOL...

why do they have to be planned, why cant you just have them when your feel your body needs one.Do they hurt you anymore or less if they are written out and planned???..Like when you feel like you are so depleted that you may be burning up some muscle...I know for me I have to be very careful since my job is constant moving and out in 110 degree weather for 4-6 hours a day...I said I eat whatever I want on the weekends up until 4 weeks out...I am not trying to sound like a perfect dieter, I diet the way that I think is best for ME...He asked what we do for cheat meals and I gave HONESTLY what I do...
