I am definetly in the top 5 at my gym when it comes to size,not my opinion but a bunch of us were talking the other day and that was the conclusion(am I cool or what?,haha) Im only about 245 right now,but as you can tell from my avatar Im thick and have a certain look.I joined this gym a few months ago,and tried to size up the whos who.

There is a Russian mixed martial arts fighter in the gym about 6'5" and 300lbs,just pure ridiculous genetics,huge frame and lean full muscles.Very strong and just massive.I thought he was "THE ONE".Then I noticed another guy who happens to be a trainer there,very similar to the Russian,but about 320 and THICK.He is a big boy and deadlifts 7 plates/side for reps like it was a toy.Ok is he "THE ONE"?Not by a longshot.

There is this fucking guy,I met a few weeks ago.All I can say is what the fuck????!I have seen pros before,but this dude is from another planet.Like a comic book character.When I see him in the gym,I feel like a pathetic little man who might as well go home and take up golf or some other sport.He is my height (5'11") and has to be 300lbs,although he claims 260.I have 21" biceps,his arms have to be 24"s,his forearms are bigger then any I have ever seen,and the rest of him is sick.Not only is he huge,but cut and veiny.The veins on his upper body look like a road map.When this guy is in the gym,the rest of us just laugh.He laughs with us and although he always tells me I look good,I sure don't feel it when he is around.

He is also one of the nicest guys around,soft spoken and a gentleman.He claims not to use too much gear.A shot of sust here,some dbol there etc etc.He also trains very easily.Nothing crazy and nothing insanely heavy.He is 40 yrs old and he trains for about 40 minutes and he leaves.This is what I don't get.Why is it that there are genetic freaks out there that don't train half as hard as I do yet look like this?He never competed and doesnt care too,he is just a freak plain and simple.

Im posting this because Im sure in gyms all of you workout at,there has to be that one motherfucker that defies explanation.A guy that makes you want to go home, watch a chick flick and eat a gallon of ice cream because your a pathetic small human.Lets hear your stories.......
 
Time

Remember we all go on and on about anabolics food training etc etc

But Time will do do more than the rest

If you take moderate cycles(no crashing) and train properly not to heavy(no injuries) then do this for 20 years (you said guy was 40)

HEY, THIS ISN'T TO CHANGE THE FLOW OR INTENT OF THE THREAD...BUT SOMETHING YOU POSTED HIT HOME WITH ME. THE GUYS I MEET WHO ARE 280-300 AND ARE FAIRLY LEAN ALWAYS TRAIN THE WAY YOU ARE DESCRIBING.
JUST SORTA HEAVY....SORTA LAYED BACK. I DID MEET THIS LITTLE ASIAN GUY WITH HUUUGGE QUADS AND I WAS IMPRESSED AS HELL...WHAT DID HE DO FOR LEGS....FULL SQUATS WITH 225LS....THAT WAS IT. I KEPT ASKING HIM....'WHY DON'T YOU GO HEAVIER?" HE JUST SMILED SHYLY AND SAID I DON'T NEED TO. HE WAS CERTAINLY CORRECT...I KNEW HIM FOR A YEAR AND THAT'S ALL HE DID.....7 SETS OF 12-15 REPS... SOME HAMSTRING CURLS. HE WAS 5'8 AND THOSE LEGS AND CALVES WERE INCREDIBLE. SO ALL THE RULES EVERYONE GOES ON AND ON ABOUT....WELL, LETS JUST SAY I HAVE REASON TO DOUBT THEM.

I DO WELL IF I CAN FORCE MYSELF TO DO A LITTLE LESS THAN I WANT TO DO. BUT...I END UP GETTING ALL FIRED UP AND DOING SOMETHING LIKE SETS OF 15 REPS ON THE DEADLIFT WITH AS MUCH WEIGHT AS I CAN HANDLE OR GETTING A WILD HAIR AND SUPERSETTING LEG PRESSES AND SQUATS. DUMB SHIT LIKE THAT, WHICH I KNOW IS PROBABLY COUNTER PRODUCTIVE....BUT, THAT I DO ANYWAY. I AM SUCH A FRIGGING MORON THAT I CAN GET FIRED UP SPITTING WOOD WITH A BIG AXE.....I'LL GET INTO A GROOVE AND START WHACKING THOSE LOGS ..TRYING TO BUST AS MANY AS I CAN WITH ONE SWING ...UNTIL THE PILE IS PRETTY MUCH GONE AND I AM SWEATY AS HELL. WHAT'S THIS DUMB STORY HAVE TO DO WITH TRAINING? JUST THAT SOMETIMES I LIFT A CERTAIN WAY JUST BECAUSE IT'S FUN...NOT NECESSARILY PRODUCTIVE IN TERMS OF PUTTING ON AS MUCH MUSCLE AS POSSIBLE.:D
 
Yeah, at the gym I go to there is this pro that is just sick. I dont know his name but he seems very personable. Everytime I see him he has a crowd of wannabes around him. Anyone here happen to work out at the live oak Golds in San Antonio?
 
Funny you should mention this. At my gym in a town of 2800 people, one of my friends/mentors is 6'1 and 280 with abs bodybuilder look (has great quads, shoulders, and back width), my best friend and training partner is 6'2 320 clean with 20" arms, but more of a powerlifters build (barrel chested, large belly), and a new guy in town who is 6'2 315 clean who is somewhere between the other two when it comes to bodyfat and build type.

But the largest man I've met is a friend living in Edmonton (originaly from one of the southern states), Matt Clary, who is just under the 400 mark at 6'4" with 24" arms. He is the largest competing amateur in Canada right now, and qualified for I believe the NPC USA's by winning a show in Washington State. He works with Chad Nicholls right now, they hope to bring him on stage next at 330. I think plans are for the 2006 Canadian Nationals, but I would have to confirm. Definetly a freak of nature.

Funny thing is, some of the largest men I've met are the most easy going, honest, and friendly.

Well we dont have any of those types where I live either. Just guys that a big and ripped but not in that super freak category such as your describing. However in response to what JETHRO said. I know lots of guys who are just like the guy you described who are big, ripped, and dont do heavy weights and from talking to these guys I understand why they use average weight. Becuase they spent thier time building those massive legs, arms, chest, etc and now are just maintaining. Really bro when you got 23" arms and 32" quads, unless your gonna try to dethrone ronnie coleman whats the use in getting bigger? Thats why they use medium weights. Just to maintain the hard work they already did.

I have seen some monsters in my time in gyms across the country.
funny most of the time the biggest guys are the most humble quiet and content in the gym training covered up, methodically, no screaming no "look at me " bullshit like slaming and clanging the weights grunting and groaning.
Ironic isn't it while the 150 lbs shitkicker bench bouncing 225 for london bridge singles in wearin wifebeater in subzero weather screaming at the top of his lungs is across the gym in huge numbers.:D

good comedy right there if you ae doing cardio to pass the time there is some good entertainment in the gyms.
 
Plenty of freaks of the laughable kind, no freaks in the good sense of the word. Plenty gingerbread men though, lol.

There are national and use to be national level competitors at my gym, as far as crazy freaky i would say no due to one trying to remain some what balanced for competition purposes, but based on the way some of these guys look i'm sure they wouldnt have any problem taking themselves up to such "Monstrous Proportions" if they chose to. There is one guy(wont say his name) but he has takin 2 overall titles, the 99 Suburban and East Coast overall, and this year(05) Muscle Beach Venice Overall title, and a few months back he came in and sat for a few minutes like he was waiting for something or someone then a camera crew came in and he proceeded to take his shirt off and started lifting dumbells curling them which in turn made his biceps swell into a huge but shapely ball, it was like a oversized pool ball that moved under tension. Then you have another one whos' pro bound so close to being pro that hopefully it will happen in 06, but no joke when this man takes his shirt off and walks toward and stands next to you he makes you feel like you havent accomplished shit. the man shit is sooo up that one day while he was in his prep stage for his upcoming show (already pass by) he took his shirt off and proceeded to walk toward the front desk where everyone was and at the same time the other man with the 2 overall titles was coming across the room and had to hurry and skip out of the mans' path due to the large monstrous,symmetrical,proportioned package he carried and we all percieved in AWE. so i would say monsters but monsters who know what they are doing through calculated effort, not just bulking and getting fat calling it huge;)
 
I train over at Fitness One sometimes, over on Union Hills, Troy Alves trains there. I have watched him train a couple of times and have always been in awe, I totally respect his physique. He isn't a mass monster, but he looks amazing, tight, lean and really well proportioned. Really cool guy too, I have talked to him about training and he is really helpful.

You would think the 6ft5 300lb dude would look more freaky then the 5ft11 260 dude wouldnt you? Its an illusion i think. The shorter fuckers always look bigger ... but the taller and larger frame looks massive.

Right now there is no one near my gym or city that is my size (bodybuilding wise). You have some guys that are country boy big... like 350lbs and round.. but none who have quality build.
I am massing right now and last friday ( i only weigh on friday) i weighed right at 278lbs.... i am guessing my BF is only about 7% right now. I am vascular through my biceps, triceps, forarms... and shoulders... into the traps. I am around 5ft 11 or so. The last time i measured my arms was about 3 weeks ago and they where 22 with a pump. They are a little bigger now.. probably not enough to tell by looking.
I have genetically good legs... i only work them once a month and they stay huge and cut. I got that from my dad. When i am lean my legs have FREAKY vascularity.
You have to remember, i live in hickville USA so i stick out here because all i have to judge my self by are a bunch of beer drinkin rednecks.

I went out to Cali a while back and hit some gyms out there and MAN... i felt like a fucking midget. I felt like Richard Simmons on fucking crack.
There are some big ass dude who do this shit just for looks. Most guys i meet did not ever compete.
Wonder if that dude in your gym would let you post some of his pics... (unless you feel gay asking ;) ... i would).

sounds like you have some big boys in your neck of the woods! We got big football like boys at our gym but nothing like your describing. I am 5'8 222lbs so I am a fireplug. You r right about the real monsters in the gym. ( quiet & very cool ) WE got a ton of 145lb loudmouths but hell I am far to busy with my workouts to even worry.

At my old gym,there was a guy probaly 5.9 Around 255-260 With Crazy low BF,around 6%-7% with deeeeeeeeeep seperations,the guy was a real freak,Big Arms(Probaly 21inch no joke),Delts,Chest with good back,never saw his legs but at that size with leaness he must have had greats quads.I think he was around 35.

I remember talking to him about workout and all that he said he did start at 20 and gear at the same time.He said he never did go more than 1100mg Test a week.

I ask him if he did use slin or gh and he said no(maybe bullshiting).
He did tell me that training for 15 years combine with smart cycle and consistency is the results you see.
He did confirm that he had good genetics too.
 
Not at the gym so I hope it's ok. My roomate in the Marine Corps was 6''2' 245, looked like Holyfield. Didn't even lift, and said he never did. The only exercise he got was a little run and some pushups 3x's a week. He was my roomate so I'm around him all day and night, he lived on candybars, chips, and maybe one meal a day at the chow hall. He is the lone reason that I can believe that not every NFL player is dopeing and that some pro BB's use doses that are resonable. I still wonder what would happen if he ate right and lifted, let alone juiced. There are freaks among us.
 
There is this one dude about 6'4" and 280-300. He is strong as shit. I seen him doing inclines with 4 plates on each side for warmups . Did it like 20 times. My boy is like 6'2" 250 with 21" arms and this guy makes him look small. His arms look 25".

I might post a bicep pic or something. Bro, i aint nothing special. To me.. i look normal. Its all these damn rednecks that think i look freaky.
Anyway.. i am probably NO where near the biggest dude on this board. Hell the owner is a freak ... much less the members!
 
Yes I do and he happens to be someone that I've known for years that fought obesity and turned out to be one of the freakiest young dudes I've ever known.

Now this guy back in HS (as a freshman) was ridiculously large despite being fat as well. Even with him having alot of bodyfat, his traps were nearly to his ears when he was 15 years old. He, much like myself, battled obesity and won...although he looks a hell of alot better than I do because I put some weight back on and he just got huge and ripped :( LOL

He is now 20 I believe, and honestly his size makes him easily look like a competitive heavyweight bodybuilder and I've told him time and time again that he needs to get into competition. He is around 5'10-5'11, very small waist, and arms that have to be atleast 19 or 20", a chest like Arnold's, and an extremely wide back. Unfortunately his legs are not up to par, though. He is now weighing around 240 last I heard. Never talked to him about anabolic use because we are cool, but not THAT cool with one another. Either this guy is one hell of a genetic freak or has taken some things to help him along the way or BOTH (the most likely situation). Either way though, definitely a freak.
