So what are you drinking?
Not just at the bar, today and everyday, what are you drinking?

I'm drinking water, Crystal Lite and other sugar free stuff like it, and Diet Mtn. Dew.
There is my second question:
does the sugar free aspect of these drinks cause a false insulin response to the percieved sweetness, or does blood sugar have to spike to release the insulin?

H2O here sometimes Crystal Lite tea (yum)and yes I have read studies before in regards to the manufactured sugar in "diet cola's" doing that. Never saw anything on Splenda though. I steer away from them. Lord knows I don't need to chance it. Although a certain someone on this board I think is addicted to diet sunkist.

my latest thing is water with splenda

nah i think thats a bunch of bullshit...diabetics have no problem at all with diet soda's...and insulin is releases in reponse to a rise in blood sugar levels. no sugar=no rise in blood sugar levels= no insulin.

i like diet green tea, and diet white tea from lipton. also, diet green tea from arizona that comes in 1 gallon jugs.

edit= oh yeah...when i am cutting i only drink splenda, but at other time i drink aspartame too.

WATER!!!!

no i just dont like water and adding splenda helps.. i used to knock it too...

I agree with ya beca (dont fall over) I hate water too. u know what those fish do in it ...... dirty bastards :p

lipton green tea w/ citrus is the bomb and when not training I love the arizona, reminds me of teas from a japanese steak house.
not to start a thread fued, of course diabetics are going to have no problem with the diet colas (for the most part) the studies I read ( one at my cousins house, he's a diabetic and got some mag and the other article was in mens fitness or something, been years ago) studied the response of sugar level spikes in non diabetics after ingesting sweet n low. total different reaction within the body in non diabetics. of course articles are like opinions, everyone has one and these were years ago.

!!!

So sugar free maybe aint free?
The insulin comes out to sweep up the streets and what happens when there's no unruly gang of glucose to bust up?
Am I headed towards lowered insulin sensitivity?
Is it a tumor?

So maybe the Diet Mtn Dew is not the secret to add to my stacker?
It's quite a nice jolt. I could get addicted easy.
I like the espresso too. Panamanian and Costa Rican coffees.
Me and caffiene go waaaay back.

So you think the double espresso mixed with no sugar hot chocolate followed closely with a 2 liter diet Mtn dew chaser is a bad idea for pre workout?

I love the Vanilla whey isolates with that orange crystal lite.
Creamsicle!

I read a post the other day where a guy measured his insulin response to diet drinks versus regular drinks with sugar.

* Stevia produces a raise of insulin of 2 points over baseline
* Splenda was 4 points
* & regular drink was 16 points.

Apparently, Splenda raises insulin more than Stevia due to it having Maltodextrin as a filler, even though, it is only a small quantity.

really appreciate the info! thanks for posting info @ slpenda. I hadn't been able to find anything.

Ditto, smiler51...........

Thanks for the info on the sweetners.
So what is it doing when this "false" signal comes through.
Insulin dumps into the bloodstream with nothing much to do.
What are the long term implications of this going on?

And the morning jump start 3 cups of Bustelo extra dark espresso roast through my french press at precisely 196-198 F and a pack of splenda is OK?
Cause I'm worthless without it.
Giving up those carbs and caffiene is too much suffering all at once in one lifetime.

Irritable, jittery, prone to fits of profanity...
God, I have Taurettes' syndrome.:(

is sassy working you that hard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

pretty much on the isulin dumping part. as for lng term effects I never saw any studies on that.

give me 2 units black coffee... stat!

I guess it's the add on morning cardio and the green bean power load diet kicking in. I did 20 minutes on her bike, then ate breakfast.
1 cup egg whites, 2 eggs, big 2 spoons salsa.
worked awhile, ate chicken breast and 1/2 cup green beans
back to work then wheyshake and a stretch before workout (shoulders/traps and deltoid)and 20 minutes on the treadmill. Cool off /stretch.
Another shake.
Not too bad so far.
Then a splitting headache. no coffee, no diet mtn. dew, no tea was a

BAD IDEA

Tea has Theobromines that act like coffee but are different chemically.
So I brewd up a pot of the mean bean juice... Costa Rican.
More Chicken and green beans!!!!!

Sos now it's time to cook...MORE CHICKEN.
Got the industrial gallon size Italian Green Beans too "Kentucky Wonder"

Chicken is marinating, grill heating up. tomorrows clients scheduled.
Sassy is on the road home now. (last good woman on earth guys)
God is in his heaven and tonight all is right in my world.

Quick!! Someone give the man a cup of coffee

Hon... slowly put the little packet down and step away from the Splenda

The good news is that you get to keep the coffee... you'll just have to drink it black... no sugar/sugar substitute.

alot of SYNTHEPURE and green, brown tea mix

ALIN...

So do you eat pelmenis with ketchup in your hometown?
or is the local food favorite something different?
Man cannot live by Synthepure alone.....:D

For myself, it's just been water, protein shakes, and the ocassional sip of Diet Coke. It's funny, I only like that first initial one or two sips of Diet Coke and that's it! I'll just throw the rest away! I like the burrrrrn!hehe -StOrY
