Mark sent me over an excel sheet of his off season diet. He'll do this for anyone I believe if you email him. Thought some of you may be interested. I cannot upload the excel sheet, it is too large, so I had to copy and paste. I cleaned it up a bit, but I didn't spend much time doing it, lol. Anyway, we'll see how it looks when I hit submit. i am sure he does...he has 3 little girls & works a normal job on top of eating all this food...lol...i bet he is worn out by 8:30!

that diet looks very time consuming, but effective. the only thing I think I could add is shake or two in the middle of the night to make it a more effective bulk. when I bulked in the past I would get up every night around 2-3am to drink a protein shake and use the bathroom.

man thats dedication to eat that in the offseason, yuck

I know that he eats a ton of sushi so I am sure that he eats cheat meals rather frequently in the offseason but for the most part he eats like that all year long, the man is a straight machine and like big Sdawg said that and his genetics have got him where he is today.. I talked to him and his wife Christina at the Arnold for awhile, they are really nice people...

I guess this shows how tough it is to eat clean just to get 4000 cals. Its like a full time job in it self. He has the dedication most of us could only dream of. If he added more good fats maybe he could cut down on the volume but he must do it for his own reason.

RC

Mark owns a company at which he works full time. So he has gotta work, eat, train, spend time with his family and more then sleep. Its alot for one man to do so definetely strong will and great dedicaton. His dvd is coming out soon which should give us all an insight into what it is really like.

so basically he cooks up a bunch of chicken tenderloins and rice and has a small meal every hour or so instead of a bigger one every 2-3. maybe his thinking is not to stretch the stomach out (think small waist) with mass amounts at one time yet still get the calories in, unfortunately 99% of use have jobs that will just not allow this. awesome example of a pro who doesnt lay around, rely soley on sponsor's for income or some form of hustling drug or body or both. family man, businessman, great role model for aspiring bodybuilders and us all. i wish the guy nothing but the best

Dugdale is legit! I spoke to him and I believe this diet is confirmed. I asked him as I hate to see things get posted that aren't true about pros. His DVD should be one to get! You aren't going to see him compete again this year as he is taking the time off to grow.

My wife Crystal and I know Christina and Mark and believe me he eats all the time! And he eats very clean all the time. He is a blue collar bodybuilder!!

Ya know...it's this kind of dedication and day after day attack on the digestive system that I couldn't stomach anymore...literally!

I got so tired of scrubbing dishes, packing my meals and the constant "time to eat again" mentality, day in and day out. Ziplock, Tupperware and Igloo should be major event sponsors. God knows I went through enough of their products.

It isn't cheap to eat this way either. I'm betting it costs Mark anywhere from $300-$400/wk to eat this way when you consider all the egg whites and protein powder he goes through. Yeah, he probably gets sponsored alot of products but then he's a pro. He better be gettin something for all that damn work he puts into his body.
Costco and Sams club can only save you so much when 80% ends up in the shitter anyway. How often do you think Mark takes a crap in a day? Not to be gross but think about the end product here. When I ate a similar diet, I was on the can 3 to 4 times a day. Who ever invented wet wipes deserves the Nobel Peace Prize!

In the end, you will lose most if not all of your gains when you go off. Believe me! Then you look back and wonder why or how you did it for so many years and what impact it all had on your internal organs especially your heart. You begin to think less about yourself and more about the daughter sitting on your lap and how to pay for her highschool and then college education. You begin to wonder what enabled your wife to deal with the mood swings, precontest dieting, shaving, tan application, sitting around some shit hole of a gym at 12 midnight so you could squeeze in another 30 min of cardio because you couldn't get it up at home cause your maxed out on Tren, Halotestin, and suspension. I'm amazed she never left me!

Lets see...oh yeah, an education. Did we get one or did we put it off to obtain striations and cross striations? Did we ever get that x-mass tree in July or the flawless posing routine? Retirement? Hell I'll wory about that later. Fast foreward 15 years...bamm!!! Gettin close to 40 now, can't afford a mortgage so the wife and I flush $1200 rent down the toilet/month. Add the $300-$400 for just my food, day care, car payments, health insurance, utilities, gas etc... (Lets not forget the Cycle: AAS, GH, R3, slin, Anti E's, Clen, T3/T4, diuretics, pain killers, anti-inflamatories, cortisol blockers,Vites, liver aids, digestive aids, acne meds, pins, etc...).

The worst part is seeing people who remember you for who you were in the gym...the "lifestyle" we chose to immerse ourselves in. It usually goes something like this..."Man is that you? Jesus...you lost alot of weight! So...do you still go to the gym? I remember when you...."

Its never..."Wow, you look great! How's the blood pressure? Your LDL to HDL ratio's what?...that's awesome! I hear you had a little girl...congratulations daddy."

This sounds so very negative, I know but until you've been around the block and see this sport (hobby) for what it truly is, you quickly realize who's making the money and who's the pawn.

I really wonder how much quality time he gets to spend with his kids & wife? I'd love to ask what his kids think of daddy. I wonder how daddy hides the 6 to 8 injections he needs to give himself throughout the day and what he might say to his daughter who catches him with a syringe in his ass. I wonder how he seperates his GH in the refer and what special instructions hes given his kids about leaving the little bottles with white powder in them alone? I wonder who does all the laundry. Between all his workout clothes and 3 kids, that poor washer and dryer must operate 24/7.

How involved is daddy in his daugthers gymnastics, ballet? How many recitals or games do you think he gets to and who do you suppose is getting them to all their daily activities? Who wakes up and cooks their breakfasts/dinners? Who packs their lunches? Who shells out their allowence and sets the rules for chores/behaviour? Who's the disciplinarian? Who goes to the PTA meetings and participates in the team car wash fundraisers?

I guess what I'm getting at here comes down to sacrifice. There is no way in hell he can be everthing a "normal" dad is/does and still stay as committed as he is to bodybuilding. That takes a VERY understanding partner/wife. A team effort! If you have one of these partners/wives fellas...hold on tight and never take em for granted. The second you do is when it all comes crashing down around you. Bodybuilding is a sport especially designed for selfishness. It's all about "ME". It's also about routine, consistency...add nauseum!
Kids are also about "ME". Combining the two is like trying to mix oil in water.

Enough of my ranting. What do I know anyway? lol

Excellent post, brother. Nominate this as one of the best "rants" & truisms I have read on the board.

Thats such a good point. Thats one of the reasons i feel i havent reached my potential to any extent so far, i call myself "lazy" when im "offseason" or "bulking' when in reality i just dont wanna give my life away 365 to bodybuilding. Its bad enough i give away 12 weeks a yr to diet for a show and shit. My friends stopped by like 2 nights ago n woke me out of a dead sleep (they were drunk haha). But the thing is, they all talked about how they all havent seen me n i forgot about them n how bodybuilding has become more important than my friends. Fuck if they arent right tho. All they want is a phone call here n there, n i owe them that at least. I realized i missed 3 tournaments recently my lil bro wrestled in, my fuckin best friend in the world, i feel like a douche. I was at his states n packed all my food for the day n went. Even worked out 5am so i could go. Iv decided NOT to give my life to bodybuilding, this is my HOBBY and FUN, im not gonna be pro and im not gonna make a living from it. Yes i want to be my best, i figure im at work 9hrs 5x per week and have some good freedom workin for Gaspari... so i will follow my bodybuilding diet from the time i wake til my protein shake PWO after work. Thats as far as im willing to take it. If i have prior engagements im gona miss that workout, if i have a date im gonna say fuck my bodybuilding diet (as long as im not dieting for a show), if i wanna go out drinkin with my friends stay out late and not eat for 12hrs im gonna do it lol. Im gonna have fun and enjoy my life and others in my life. Junk food is another part of my life that i LOVE, im not giving that up either. I will be the best bodybuilder i can possibly be WHILE enjoying my life and those around me.

When bodybuilding becomes a priority and a stone cold commitment and and a JOB then it is no longer fun, you have lost your freedom and its a MUST. That to me... is NO LONGER FUN when you feel it is a must rather than a choice.

Not to put down any of the competitors, that's not my intent, I've just always wondered what the point of competing is. Unless you have the potential to be among the top 5 in the world, you won't really be able to make a living at it. Plus, you lose so much of your life in the process. I just don't get it. Why sacrifice so much of your life for a few seconds on stage?

bro, you make some good points i guess but these are the choices he (Mark D.) has made for his life...this is the path he has chosen to take...obviously his wife loves him & supports what he does or she wouldnt put up with him & what he does...Mark is an upstanding guy...he has a family, a regular job, & on top of that he is a professional bb'er, one of the top in the world at that...how many ppl can say they are one of the top BB'ers in the world? other ppl chose to live their lives different ways & it may be ways that we think are absolutely crazy but on the other hand they think BB'ers are crazy also...what guy do you know that is a hardcore BB'er that you wouldnt think is absolutely insane? not everyone can be a BB'er & say that they actually compete & do well at that...this is a demanding sport & it demands the best out of you day in & day out...more power to you if you have the will power & dedication it takes to be the best...i have the utmost respect for someone that has that kind of dedication...if you are a true BB'er then you know its not all about the drugs...its about hard, hard work & dedication beyond your wildest belief...not everyone can balance life & BB'ing but if Mark D. can do that then i believe he deserves more respect than just a BB'er...who knows, maybe you are having a rant because you have a problem because you cant be the best...maybe you are ill cause you want to be something that you know you cant be...i am not putting anyone down nor am i cutting on anyone but not everyone can be exactly what they want to be...all we can do is be the best person that we can possibly be...we cant please everyone & make everyone happy but if we are happy withourselves then that is all we can ask of ourselves...

I have never stepped on a stage, but I venture to guess this is why...

It is thier day to shine, and it prolly feels good to have your hard work in the gym appreciated. I think I would personally feel weird doing it, I just looking good and feeling like a machine...

actually show day is no fun. its the prep thats fun. watching your body change, having a deadline, throwing the intensity through the roof in the gym as the time gets closer n closer and you wanna be your best and theres little time left! Ok so youv done your homework, your on point, but if you are a true competitor your always striving for that last striation, that last bit of detail, that last bit of anything that can make u 1% better. I dont get excited when show day is here, i get depressed becuase the fun part is over. Ok stand on stage, front double bicep, bla bla bla, hope you dont spill, hope you stay tight, carb load, water depleate... fuckin sux. Sure winning would be great, but the journey is the fun part.
