well, as i said in my other thread about the contest, i've changed all my carb sources to fruits... a total of around 330 to 350 grams per day...
the sources are as follows
1 granny smith apple, 1 fuji apple, 2 banans, 250 grams mango, 2 cups chopped pineapple, 1/2 liter pineapple juice, and 1/2 liter mango juice.

i started this on friday... it's now tuesday night where i'm at...
my results?
my stomach has never been this bloated, ever!
i have gas that is so frequent and so smelly it's not even funny.
i have distention that makes me look pregnant... my waist was 32.7" on thursday... now it's around 34.5"
my urine is never clear... and no, it's not that bright yellow color. it's orange.
my energy levels are shitty at best
i'm suffering from insomnia... and if i sleep, i wake up in 30 minutes.

just to make things clear... NOTHING ELSE CHANGED IN MY DIET, TRAINING OR SUPPLEMENTATION!!

I really don't care about the "facts" about how fruits are healthy or anything like them... to me, they're just natures skittles... they're fucking sugar.

if they work for you, good for you...
to me, they have the same effect as a dozen krispy creme donuts without the sensation that only donuts can bring.

just thought i'd let you know...

you are eating all the wrong fruits.......

Phil's the expert on the fruit for carbs thing.

my two cents is this:

don't make 100 percent of your carbs from fruits, and certainly not from juice. Eat red apples, not granny smith, don't eat bananas, and throw in vegetables between the fruit meals and have some oatmeal in the morning. Eat lower G.I. fruits when you do eat them.

to me, that's doesn't mean anything. GI is worthless whenever you mix other foods with carbs, especially fats.
as i said, that would only mean to treat them like candy.

Im on a high fruit diet also....but with green veggies mixed in every other meal..... But, I eat Cantolope, red apples, cup of pineapples....and a bananna.
I feel much fuller (gut) wise when I get my carbs from Brocolli and Green beans.

Well

Personally........an all fruit diet will takes weeks to adjust to as is any new diet...........plus I would never recommend it, its kind of silly to do that, there is no benefit to it, you are missing out on too many phytonutrients

From my experience, any time you drastically change your diet you will experience gas, bloating, stomach issues, etc. Its the change, not the fruit imo. Hope you feel better.

Buselmo -- I learned to stay away from too much fructose after researching it for my ketogenic diets. It has a preference for refilling liver stores, which is bad when you are doing a CKD. But that led me to find a few studies that showed too much fructose can increase triglyceride levels and so forth. Esp when you juice it so it is concentrated vs eating a couple oranges and the like.

I believe everything in moderation, and when it comes to food people take to the subject like you are insulting their mother. Milk is terrible for you. Flouride in water will kill you. Eat high carb only. Eat low carb only. Etc etc. I stick to a phrase I once heard an MD say: "An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but two apples brings you right back to him."

Of course you should only eat either carbs or fats with your protiens, not both.

X2 what Phil said, there are too many things you are missing with an all fruit carb source. You are mal-nutritioned following a diet like that. Mix in veggies and a bit of rice and oatmeal and your diet will be much more complete.

Oh yes!

Nice find.............now, what is too much fructose, and for who, 250 pound BBers or 70 year old ladies?

Or in one study, rats. I'm not a scientist, so I don't know. If I'm to make a guess, substituting every single carb one takes in for fructose like buselmo tried might be near that "too much" threshold.

Well

Then you would have to eat straight fructose...........who would do that? I do not know of 1 fruit that is straight fructose, do you?

How can you NOT love this guy!!.......No Homo of course. ;)

Please don't argue this with Phil. You'll just come out either feeling stupid, pissed off, or both.

The only time I take in DEXTROSE is when I use Insulin.

Oh no!

Please don't argue this with Phil. You'll just come out either feeling stupid, pissed off, or both.

Arguing is good! It helps us all learn...........but all fructose?? We have seen studies on here showing fructose levels in all foods and fruits are not the culprit..........the way to go about finding out answers is not to bombard your system with something foreign and expect to feel good.

Good point

Then you would have to eat straight fructose...........who would do that? I do not know of 1 fruit that is straight fructose, do you?

You're forcing me to resort to my google-fu... it appears apple juice might get you almost there? 25mg of fructose out of 28g of carbs. Pineapple as mentioned in OP's post is 21 out of 39g, so only about 54%, def not close to all fructose.

I'm sure the sudden increase in fiber in the fruit isn't helping his stomach discomfort either at the start here.

Oh sure it is..........good call

Any drastic change in your diet will make you feel "odd" until your body regulates it.
