badly spraged ankle.... no cardio or legs for 3 months and physical therapy.... seriously... is there a god?

:) JUST THINK OF IT THIS WAY......YOU'LL HAVE TONS OF TIME TO LAY ON YOUR BACK, FEET IN THE AIR, WORKING THAT CHEST! YOUR ARMS WILL BE BITCHIN AS WELL. BEEN THERE, DONE THAT.
 
yeah but this was sposed to be the get shreddded time for me... i got me a treadmill for the house... geez.
 
I WAS PLAYING BASKETBALL, CAME DOWN ON A GUYS FOOT!

BAM!! ANKLE HIT THE FLOOR.....MASSIVE BRUISING ALL THE WAY DOWN MY CALF, BRUISING BETWEEN THE TOES, HUGE ANKLE....3 WEEKS BEFORE MY FIRST BODYBUILDING CONTEST. YEAH, THAT SCREWED UP MY PREP......WASN'T LEAN ENOUGH. HERE IS ANOTHER WORD OF WISDOM...DON'T TRY TO COME BACK QUICKLY....STAY THE HELL OFF IT. OTHERWISE YOU END UP WITH A LOOSE FRIGGING ANKLE THAT LACKS STABILITY CAUSE YOUR LIGAMENTS ARE ALL STRETCHED OUT.

I AM SURE YOU KNOW THIS.....JUST HELPING REINFORCE THE IDEA! :)

Not sure I understand as I work in sports rehab and I have never heard of a sprained ankle with those kind of restrictions. The bottom line is that your ligaments are either torn or severely stretched. They will never re-tighten or repair themselves. If you are not having surgery(and I recommend you don't); your main goal right now is RICE. Once your swelling is under control you need to start strengthening the structures around the ankle and improve your proprioception to substitute for the stability you will be lacking. However, at that point you should still be able to ambulate and even do legs with proper bracing or taping. You should even be able to do cardio with things such as recumbent bike or low impact machines like the eliptical.

I would seek out someone in your area that works with athletes and they can better consult you on what you can and cannot do as whomever you are seeing now is way too conservative.

I agree with muscle96ss. I aslo do Physical therapy in a sports med clinic and have NEVER heard of a doc making that kind of restriction for an ankle sprain! We are usually very aggressive with the RICE then aggressive with rehab, depending on the grade, 4 weeks tops..but never total restriction.....find a great sports med clinic, that will get you through this much faster

|--[\\\]>--------- why were you playing basketball? didnt you know bber's are allergic to activities like that? anyways, i feel ya bro, i broke my left ankle 2 x's. couldlnt train calves for 1.5 years....never/hasnt felt the same since, but now i say fuck it and train them....i know it's not very smart, but since training calves again, the ankle hasnt' felt worse than it was b4...

Sorry to hear about your injury, but the people above who work in sports rehab have given good advice!
See if you can find someone who works with professional sports teams. These docs and therapists HAVE to get people up and moving a quickly as possible when multi-million dollar salaries are at stake. A lot of the powerlifters I trained with, and prowrestlers only went to the doc for the pro football team in our state.
