Have you tried working the same muscle everyday?

No, but Arnold worked his calves ED after he got runner up to a guy who had better calves. It worked for him!

I've done it before to shock my muscles. I don't do several killer workouts in a row but....I do light workouts making the muscles burn with light reps and low weight. It has pushed me through some sticking points.

never done but certainly thought about, biggest problem is how many sets can you do before you are living at the gym. the question is, is the cumulative effect comparable to training once or twice a week....do it and let us know, probably get a good fat burning effect if done in a circuit fashion...

Just look at a Gymnasts physique, in particular biceps and triceps. They get hit daily due to their training regimes and are nicely developed.
I think for bodybuilders, who obviously train heavier and their whole body too,i imagine it has its place in pushing past a sticking point....overload and adapt springs to mind.

Obviously I see many training abs daily. I would assume abs are made of the same various muscle tissues and fibers of others, and I've seen these folks with tremendous results.

I've often wondered why we treat abs so differently (I don't).

I've never tried everyday for any other muscle, but when I was much younger I did everyother day full body workout. (I know, I know, but we did not know better). Gains improved when I broke this schedule.

With that said, I believe more than most of the brain/muscle connection and how we adapt very quickly. I think most change works for the short haul if nothing else to get the mind/muscle connection to reset instead of coasting. I guess it works well for me because I get into very fixed habits, times, routines and do not vary enough naturally.

In general if you are working hard enough to tear the fibers down, I would think that every day is, in the end, not going to yield good results.

I trained legs 3 days in a row for 12 weeks to bring them up and it worked pretty well for me. I went heavy the first day, did preexhaustion the second, and on the third day I did giant sets. M, T, W

I then took a day two days off and on Sat. trained chest and back.

That's interesting Norm. I have certainly have thought about doing it. I will say this, I'm on a four day rotation and if for some reason I skip an extra day I will restart on my weakest body part regardless of rotation.

I TRAIN ABS, 4ARMS, CALVES, LOWERBACK (JUST HYPERS), AND HIPS/GROIN 5XEW

i have trained bodyparts back to back before, in fact i did it just last week.

went into the gym for my legs/abs arms split and had an arm workout that was substandard. for some reason i just wasn't into it. couldnt even get a good pump going.

the next day i'm sitting at home and i'm thinking that mentally, i would have a good arm workout today. it just 'felt' right. cant explain it but i'm sure all you know the feeling when you just know your going to have a killer workout.

so, back in i go and had one of the best arm workouts i have had in a very long time. the pump was painful. it was pretty ridiculous.

i have done this several times when i have gotten that feeling after already having trained that bodypart the day before, but it is usually in conjunction with smaller bodyparts, not ones like legs, back or chest, but arms, calves and shoulders.

.

It 's all genetics.........

And if so, what were your results? Just curious.

For what it's worth, there is a book call Big Beyond Belief that prescibes to a training method that incorporates workouts like this. I thought it was a good read. They said they were core testing muscle after workouts to confirm positive things were going on while doing this. I have no idea what they were looking for in the tests. What I will tell you is they are talking about one set (HIT) style to failure per body part. They said the key to doing this is not to over work the mucle, just one set is enough to tell the body to grow. If you train threw the window you wont have enough time to recover.

I have tried them all and think Phils style of workout is best.

I do not think I could handle back-back same muscle groups just because I know how my body recovers, but I can train the same muscle groups more frequently throughout the week if I keep my volume in check. As we always here stimulate more frequently, do not annilate, but load still is very important to progress week to week.
