We just found out he has a very agressive benign tumor that is eroding his jaw called an Ameloblastoma. Thankfully it is benign, but these things grow very fast and can turn malignant. No beating around the bush with this one. He's gotta have it out next week. He will have to have a section of his jaw bone taken out and a plate installed and then a bone graf done. He'll probably have a huge scar on his face to go along with it. We shall call him scarface. Joke.
Its eroded his jaw so much that his dentist and oral surgeon have warned him against biting down hard which could break his jaw. My dad's had a whole host of health problems including high bp and uncontrollable typeII diabetes. 60 yrs. old, 6'0" 375lbs. Played offensive and defensive line in highschool with Gene Upshaw(who was his backup. lol). Phil's been a trooper and been helping us with him. This is a rare type of tumor, but we suspect 30 years of dipping snuff to be the cause.
