older killswitch is good lifting music but im not really into anything past 'alive or just breathing' for the gym.

Jesse was a bad ass singer. I prefer the old myself.

Yall should check out my favorite band OPETH. They have both soft and hardcore. Every album is amazing. The new one is a lil soft.

I don't like music when I lift. In fact, I don't like music when I'm doing anything. To me, if music is any good, it deserves my undivided attention. If it isn't, it's a distraction. But I know I am very much in the minority on this one.

Ipods are a real blessing in the gym. They let everyone listen to their own music, and not drive the staff crazy bitching about the music! Now I just wish they would eliminate the "ambient" music entirely, so it isn't competing with what is coming through your headphones.

Focus is great if you own your own gym or in the garage or something, but most gyms I go to always have some kind of bubblegum radio station (politically correct and has to be tolerable to everyone) playing Amy Grant or Debbie Gibson type shit. I have to have headphones on to stay in my own world, focused. Other wise I find my mind straying to listen to the two guys next to me (both severly inflicted with imaginary lats syndrome, bless their hearts) shoot the shit about what Jimmy, Bob, or Billy has been up to lately.

If anyone is metal, it's ozzy. Black sabbath invented the damn thing. Is he speed metal, thrash metal, black metal, doom metal, nu-metal, or hell, viking metal, no not really.

x2- No man has done more for metal, and metal has done more for no man. IMO, Ozzy is the Arnold of metal. The Beatles is rock n roll.

Wow. Its always shocking to hear somebody mention a band you idolize but dont hear much about. The only opeth song i actually like LIFTING to is demon of the fall, but still life is probably the greatest album ever made (sorry masterofpuppets/ride the lightning). I listen to at least 3 or 4 opeth songs during cardio, which helps the time fly considering pretty much all their songs are 10 mins long. Mikael is a genius.

Good shit animal mother. You ever listen to his side project 'bloodbath'? Pretty freakin brutal...
